Subject: rosity IM's ?

Ang25 ( ) posted Thu, 11 May 2006 at 3:15 PM · edited Thu, 28 November 2024 at 3:11 PM

Are the Rosity IM's still functioning? I've sent two in the last month and haven't gotten a reply or a confirmation that they've been read yet. Anyone here been using them recently and have them work?

Thanks,

Angela (and how the hell do I single space?)

Hi Ang! I have recieved and have sent IM's within the last week or so. The funny thing is; the IM notice didn't show up until I went to a non-PHP part of R'osity, such as the Front Page, or checking out someone's gallery. Maybe that is something that the PTB need to look into. There could be a disconnect there 'cause you often have to sign-in again(or at least I do) to visit the galleries.

I suspect that message notifications won't show up in the galleries etc. until the galleries are migrated over to php, just like they wouldn't show up in the forums before the message system was converted to php--different systems, and I guess it's hard to get them to play well together.

Apparently there was some conversion weirdness with the message notifications, but if someone read a message you sent a month ago then that probably isn't the issue there.

And you seem to be single spacing fine to me?

:)

I wanted to single space between the "thanks" and my name part. :P Just didn't have the time to figure out how to do it.

I tried the front page and galleries and no IM messages have shown up. I only have 2 unaccounted for so maybe they just haven't been read yet.

Thanks for listening to me.

For a single spaced line I think you have to do "shift-enter"

Like this maybe,

Actually nowadays it seems the only way to get IM's is to go to the messaging bit of the site.

You have an in box, an outbox and a sent items box there, you just have to select thew right one.

The strange thing I found is that my sent items box has a history of all my IM's back for sges past....interesting!

Annoying having no notification of new messages though, means you have to manually check each time.

Maybe eventually we will get an ebot about IM's, just to add to the clutter in ones e-mail inbox.

Interesting thing is the sent items box, mine has a history of sent items right back to the beginning of the year.....interesting!

Annoying to have no notification about new messages though, maybe eventually we will get ebots to tell us we have messages, just to add to the hundreds of other e-bots cluttering up ones own in-box.

Oh ok, yeah I sent Dan an IM yesterday, but as of yet no message saying he rec'd it. I'll go check out the messaging center, what a PITA! Unfortunately, its just one more in a long list of things about this new site that make me upset. I'm feeling like giving it up all together but I'll try sticking around, hopefully some stuff will return to normal.
And thanks Roni! I'll try to remember that.
LOL, right now I'm getting single spaces when I hit enter without having to shift. Wonder why that is.
:)

OK GUYS FORGIVE ME BUT .... I just have to rant. I went to messaging up in the header of the page and its just some dumbass place to compose a message - nothing else there. I don't have time today to search. Gotta leave for a weekend trip to the city. But also what ticks me off is once at this place, the nice side bar with links to bryce etc is gone and the effing back button doesn't work. So I have to click forums then bryce etc. I know its just one extra click but the point is .. I don't want to do it. I want to click on Bryce or click the back button. OK, I'm probably not in the best of moods.

If any of you guys have IM'd me, I'll have to check on Sunday night for it.
Sorry,
Angela

I wonder why they wont put it under a handy link that shows me the number of unread IM's i have...

Oh agent smitty?? could u please forward to the programmers to put a link at the top of the page for IM's like we're used to? but this time one that shows me if i have any unread IM's or, in case there arent any unread ones, just the total number of IM's in my inbox... That would be a very handy feature to have. Thanx!

Most php forums I visit do tell me I have new messages.

Also here you have an inbox and an outbox. Other places you also have a sent box, so if it's still in the outbox then it hasn't been received, but if it's in the sent box than it has....if that makes sense.

Ang at the top of the messaging  there is a box says inbox and go, or change it to outbox..whatever.

I just sent a reply to your last IM to me.

Let me know if you get it. 8)

Catlin

I've just had to say that when I got to the front page after logging in, at the top of the page under the header, I saw a message saying I had 2 new messages so I went to read them and that's how I found yours.

diolma ( ) posted Fri, 12 May 2006 at 5:03 PM

As I understand it (and, as usual, I could be completely wrong), IMs (and probably all of the other stuff) are still being hosted on the old ".ez" server. They are in the process of being moved over to the new ".php" server.

If I am right then things will be in turmoil til everything gets switched. I've noticed a couple of "stickys" in some of the forums stating that the IMs are in the process of being changed, so right now I'm not using IMs, just waiting for the announcement that the process has been completed..

Cheers,
Diolma

Ang25 ( ) posted Mon, 15 May 2006 at 8:17 AM

Ok I'm back from my weekend. I did receive Catlin's IM so it does work and I'm paranoid for nothing LOL. Although, I didn't see any message saying she read my IM, so I'm not sure if that has changed from the old ways or not.
Thanks for listening,
Ang

catlin_mc ( ) posted Tue, 16 May 2006 at 5:52 AM

It must have changed Ang 'cos it didn't tell me you'd read mine either.

One thing I don't understand is how do you access the IM's page if you want to look up a IM you've already read?

There doesn't seem to be a link at the top of the pages anymore, or am I just being blind again. lol 8)

Catlin

chohole ( ) posted Tue, 16 May 2006 at 6:31 AM

No, you are not blind Catlin, seems only the front page gives a notification of new IM's. Otherwise you have to go to messaging and use the "inbox" and the GO button.

What a pain.

I can see they are going to cobble this up, just like they have the forums - already you can no longer see the messages in your archive, only their titles.  So that now you can only see one message's contents at a time - rats!!!!
