Hi, I'm the maker of MAXDEFAULT. I've been fiddling with the Carrara demo and would like to buy the real thing, only that I don't have the dazbucks. I've sold a lot of models to DAZ over the past year, but this is the only brokered item I have.

Oh Drac, If only I could, I would..................me no bucks either........I'm trying to buy a new spine and i'm affraid its more than a few decades of bucks to dig one up :(

I want Carrara 5 pro to....( even though I don't use the version 2 or Raydream 5.5 I have now ) ...But while y'all are there buying Drac stuff...why not spend a few more and buy some of mine to.....Marcfx...if you buy one of my brokered products...I'll build you a new spine with Carrara 5 pro when I get it ( if I take the time to learn it that is.....)

Still unsure what exactly is Maxdefault. Is it a lighting rig? Render settings? HDRI setup? What does it do precisely?

I bought Maxdefault  months ago or I would gladly help.

If you have not done so already, if you can get a carrara studio 3 in a sealed retail box (to be sure it's legit) on ebay or elseware for 50.00USD  or less Then you could get the Carrara 5 pro upgrade for 299.00 USD So  for 349.00USD total you could have Carrara 5 Pro. Probably Same strategy on regular version.

I did this a couple of months back for pro, saved lots.

I looked at the differences of Carrara 5 standard vs Pro...and really only a couple of attributes would make me want to spend the very extra $$ to go Pro;

*Saving and re-use of irridescent maps.

*Network rendering.

And...that's still not enough to make me more than double my money to go Pro. ($196 vs. $444)

But, hey...if I had the money laying around, sure. ;o)

Yet, this year is turning out to be quite expensive for me already (from other reasons), and it looks as if attending Siggraph this year (in Boston) will be out of the question, much less buying Carrara before the DAZ sale is over. But, I know me...I'll cough up the extra $55 and pick it up later on in the year when I can.

Btw, if you belong to DAZ's Platinum Club...as I read it and understand it, you could take the sale price of Carrara Pro ($444.69), and take another 30% off, equaling $311.28

Even if you didn't belong...spend $29.95 to get in to get the discount, for a total of $341.23...then of course you could then still pick up Hexagon 2 for $1.99

Correction;

*Saving and re-use of Irradiance maps.

(Save the lighting solution that you obtained with global illumination or ambient occlusion and reuse it as many times as you want. This lets you render a scene from several points of view without recalculating the lighting solution for each new render.)

The network rendering, Irradience maps, transposer built in, matchmoving etc, and the generous introductory discounts(30%) for PC club members on top of the reg. discount had me seriously considering the upgrade to Pro. But the cost of filling my gas tank due to the recent oil price boost, and other expenses will rule it out for me right now. Oh well, Carrara5 standard is a blast, and there's quite a bit that I can do with it now. I haven't come near to exhausting its possibilities yet.

Ugh....don't get me started on gas prices...almost need a 2nd job because of that.

The fact you use the word 'Gas' means you're not that bad off, try buying petrol in england... :(

try paying for petrol in Australia..its getting that bad some people are starting to use the Kangaroo's and carts again

Well I payed 95p per litre this morning, so times 4.5 (litre to gallons) thats £4.31 per gallon :)

that's $8.11 US per gallon or  $10.629 Australian dollars per gallon.

So what are you folks paying at the moment?

$1.36AUD per litre and its soon to go up again by 10 cents, some places here are paying up to $2.00AUD per litre so they can expect it to be $2.30-$2.45 in the next month.

If your a published artist ( broker ) at DAZ, you can get Carrara 5 Pro, for 99.00 till the end of the month.

So what you all are saying is that if gas prices start getting any higher we'll start calling it petrol or rather are you saying that if you call gasoline petrol you can charge more for it? Either way it sounds like we're all hosed over here. The grocery nearby is closing because of transportation costs and I just paid an extra third for smokes. So it hits us all ridin', drivin' or just ridin' it out. Meanwhile due to economic reasons I can't afford to even pay attention let alone get Hexagon,C5 or your latest creation.
