If you explained out of your depths a bit more? You appear to have a very good gallery here. This site is perhaps the best around, and more avtive than the others.
I know many photography sites around the internet, and this is the reason I stay here.
Others allow ony 200mb file uploas. Small images, not over 800 wide.
They have much stricter guidelines.
But I am not sure about what you mean yet on "out of your depth".

Out of your depth Art? I would respectfully disagree with you there. RR has a broad variety of visitors, commentors and artists, from young beginners, to seasoned professionals. From snapshots to fine art, I think we cover the spectrum. I would hade to loose you as a contributor because I for one enjoy each and every post of yours not only for the technical quality, but for the thought that goes into each image. Could you be more specific about what you are looking for? Are the comments on your work not what you are hoping for? In a public setting like this, you will have the casual viewer as well as the established artist leaving comments, so it is rather hard to get specific commentary unless you ask for them in your own comments. Photo-Genesis will (hopefully) one day be a good place to exhibit your art, but I don't know if it will ever get the same kind of and quantity of visitors as RR. Do you even want comments? The fact that your self stated policy of, "No introductions, No explanations, No justifications" might leave some people a bit cold and unsure what to say. But even a quick look at your gallery is enough to show the artistic merit of your work. So, my question to you is, what are you trying to get out of exhibiting your work on the web? pbase is a more focused photography site, but the comments still run the gamut from intelligent critiques to inane praise. ;]

"Suggestions please ?"
Quote - MGTF :
For some time I have watched the wide range of contributions posted to this site and as a result I have come to the conclusion that I am completely out of my depth, can anyone offer a suggestion/s of a more appropriate photo site where I could post my efforts ?
Thanks MGTF for your thread !
I doubt that you will ever have any helpful replies.
Maybe ... just maybe ... you'll have a lot of replies and it will be easy to take your own conclusions from the replies yet to come.
MY REPLY is : pl keep posting and do not worry about how many comments and/or critics you have; by posting you can 'teach' some of those (like me) that still dream with some quality ( or ART photo ) as a majority in this site.
Some of those that have many "wow comments" are exactly those you have nothing more to do than commenting as many posts as they can. Then, they wait for the "feedback" (who comment their photos) and tend to build a closed circle of "friends".
I could tell you, here, some 'reference' member's names for whom the quality is more important than a restrict group of "chat members".
Those who are still active and do respect photography prevent this portion of Renderosity (Photography) to become a collection of WOWS and of poor quality collection of stock photos !
I know that my reply will not please some of those who will read it.
Well ... never mind their opinion.
As for an alternative site to post high quality photography ... well ... wait for the interesting answers.
Greetings.
yes.. some good replies.. i personally have tried some of the other sites, it's either much the same or they don't accept my style of work & even though i no longer post here i still hold a certain fondness for the place as well as bitterness.. you have the "eye" for compo, know the technical & that's a big part of what it takes & why you were accepted at P-G (which btw is the only place i have been successful in selling my work) ..the rest is just frosting.. it's become much the social scene & i'm hardly one to talk but feel i have come full circle... a higher level can be achieved.. still a lot of talent & knowledge here.. after all it's quality over quantity, being inspired, sharing & seeing others improve as well as yourself & having the confidence in knowing you are good (& that's if by saying "out of your depth" means not good enough)
edit: oh & fun.. ddid i mention fun? ..as well as being serious.. when it ceases to be fun then what's the point.. this isn't the be all & end all.. lol
Just had a wee peek at your gallery, some good stuff there, I like the tight crop stuff, I really don’t think you are "out of your depth" here.
This forum is one of the best places on the web to learn new things, if you have images that you feel could be better, you could post some up and ask for opinions and ask questions on how you could edit them with software etc, there is an absolute wealth of knowledge here.
I can’t honestly recommend another site over this one, I have tried many and keep coming back here.

Hello MGTF,
Looked at your gallery and can see what you mean. Most of these communities are the same, if you comment and VOTE they comment and VOTE. You don't seem to be drawing the recognition you deserve that is for sure. But not sure that commenting and VOTING will bring you what you seek either.
Best of luck to you in your endeavours.

P.S. Congratulations on your PG gallery

come to the conclusion that I am completely out of my depth
I don't think so. Are you posting your shots to please others or posting what you like. I just post what I like, if others like them, good, otherwise, so what!!
I think nobody is out of there depth, this is a place full of variety, thats what makes it a good site. I believe this site is a place to show, learn and have fun. The fun side has died a bit lately!! but the rest is great. I think that's why we stick around here.
I usually only shoot landscapes but lately started doing a few different shots. These shots hardly got any viewings or comments, but hey! I'm still and will keep plodding away and learning.
So, stick around. i've tried many other sites over the last 2 years and have deleted all the galleries from them. I'm here to stay, hope you are to. But if not, good luck.
Steve
I just looked at your gallery. I understand your question completely. Here's my opinion... It's clear that you are not getting much recognition here for your quality art photography. Almost every one of your images doesn't make much impact, when viewed separate and in the small sizes that any web site can allow. What you need is your images printed out on a large scale, and hung up on a big gallery wall in series, one next to the other. In my opinion, no web site will be able to offer you this. Your images will do very well in large sizes, and it will only do them good. Have you tried this step yet, or are you in doubt whether to take that step? Maybe some people here can give you some more guidance in taking that step, if you should need it... I sure hope you find the satisaction and recognition that you deserve; I understand how frustration can eat your heart away. Take care, Geert

My concerns are what I perceive as the lack of willingness of some of the contributors to this site to view something that may be somewhat different, how is an image to be judged if it is not looked at ?
Please do not think this is just an issue regarding my images but my overall impression of the photography section, image making is all about trying to move forward in all different directions, looking for a different way of capturing maybe something familiar.
I take photographs purely for self satisfaction, I welcome and am grateful for comments but the lack of them does not discourage me in any way, I just try to capture something that someone else may just pass by.
I try to look at the majority of images posted here, they may not be to my personal taste but I respect the right of the contributor to post their images, the important issue is that I look !
Well, if someone looks at your the thumbnails for your images and think they've seen enough to judge it and move on, then they are sorely mistaken. Their loss. Those that know better will look, even if they do not have time to comment. Some, like me, are constantly playing catch up, and will take in a gallery all at one go.

The "depth" problem is your alternative images are perhaps out of the depth of some viewers...so that is always with art. I believe universal acceptance would render your wonderful alternative shots as less valuable and would require more mundane subjects.
You don't want to do that, certainly! Stick with what you do and do well, come or not the comments. That is my 2cts. TomDart.
I am not very familiar with other or better photography sites overall and have no recommendations in that regard.
