Subject: Floor Reflection

Anniebel ( ) posted Tue, 23 May 2006 at 4:59 AM · edited Mon, 23 December 2024 at 8:29 AM

Could someone point me to a simple tutorial or explain (simply) how to do a floor reflection in Poser 6.

Thanks

Any suggestions on how to achieve the same effect in Pro Pack?

Hmm after reading the tut though it is no help for P6. I had more or less done what they suggested, but used the reflection wacro that set the node up.

However on rendering I got no reflection.

I posted a number of material room tutorial links in that thread, including some for floor reflections.

If some of the Renderosity links take you to the forum list instead of a thread,  just add the number at the end of the posted link, to the end of the following link.

Did you use Raytrace in your render, just move the slider to the right until Raytrace is marked as on.

Can never tell if you're serious dpoadley. Think you need Raytracing for proper reflections, ie. Poser 5 or 6. Bite the bullet DP and upgrade your system. I stuck with Poser 4 for eons on my old 600mhz system on Window 98, and though I kind of miss it, Poser 4 is very limited in some areas. I assume you live in the US, surely new systems aren't that expensive in the free west.

I live in Israel.  My system is a 6 year old Pentium 3, and while Israel's economy isn't exactly third world, my own straitened circumstances compell me to consider the possibility of getting another 6 years of service out of it at the very least.
I've actually got a copy of P6, but it's so G(osh) D(arn) sluggish, it was with relief that I returned to P4.  I finally obtained and upgraded to Pro Pack, which made it easire whrn installing freebies with .png's and not haveing to create all my own .rsr files.

Pentium 3 = slugishness I'm afraid. Would love to see some of your renders dp. I think there are only 2 or 3 in the gallery (I've only got one but who knows what the furure may hold). I've heard that Israels enonemy is actually in tail spin at the moment.

Like the Loch Ness Monster in Busch Gardens, Virginia; Israel's economy has its ups and downs  Considering the fact that we've been in a constant state of war for the past 50 years, and that defense eats up to 50-70% of our GNP, we've not done too bad.
I've not spent too much time rendering, I'm affraid.  Most of my time and energy has gone into making new characters, (based on photos of real people), for Eve 4.  In this pursuit, since I'm so helpless at magnets, I've relied heavily on a slew of facial MT's that I've stripped from Pitklad's NEAena, and a whole mess of others given to me gratis by momodot.  If you do an archive seach for Eve and my username, you should come across my first thread in this field.  I'm soon going to be posting my new characters to the Raunchyminds freestuff, but if you'd like to test drive a few of them, I wouldn't mind sending you them.  Just email me at: dph@013.net.il
As Mario Puzo said in The Godfather: 'One can never have too many friends.'  (Yes, I read the book before I saw the movie).

Got it worked out thank to those links.

I had "Shadow_Catch_Only" checked, once I unchecked that & adjusted the specular colour, it worked.

Thanks

Funny how it's always the little things that throw us off, and how especially true this is in Poser  I remember once trying to pose a character, and constantly having its legs distort, until I fianlly realized that I needed to turn of the IK chain.  Live and learn.

I was doing mirror reflections in Poser well before we got raytracing.

http://market.renderosity.com/mod/forumpro/showthread.php?thread_id=1125270

The technique I describe in the thread above can also be adapted to create reflective floors ... in fact, I did it for one of my gallery renders ("Get-Well Card #2").
