Merchants have been vanishing left right and centre. Where have they gone? I know there are quite a few little one or two artist shops open now .. but I cant find some products and dont remember who made them. mutters

So .. just to make life easier ...could everyone please post links to as many indpendant stores as you know of? (we can skip rotica, 3dcommune, animotions and poserpros)

Mods : please let me know via email  if you move this thread .. I havent been getting post notifications for some reason

Actually I have to say I used to like RDNA... but lately? Miki. Kit, Koshini, Plushies etc etc etc. That's all there seems to be these days, so I don't even bother looking there anymore and instead trawl around looking for the great artists (like Xurge) who used to be there and made the stuff I liked. Miki et al leave me completely and underwhelmingly cold. Now I just wish I could afford the stuff :/ goes to drool over armor over at xurge's again

Far as I know Renderosity and DAZ are still around.  Not sure what you mean by independent,
as Content Paradise is the only in house E-Frontier Poser content store I know of.

kobaltkween ( ) posted Wed, 06 September 2006 at 2:50 PM

fazzel - not being lyrra, i can't answer for her, but for me independent means just that.  as in "autonomous, free."  basically, sites that are not brokerages.  renderosity, 3dcommune, runtimedna, poserpros, daz3d, renderotica, animotions, etc. are all brokerages that take a significant part of the cost of a product and conterin return for great real estate (well trafficked areas), support and infrastructure (servers, credit card processing, etc.), and in some cases quality assurance testing and marketing.  often a good deal.  but independent stores allow artists direct access to customers, creative freedom (no turning a product down because it doesn't fit the brokerage's image or theme of the moment), all of the credit and 100% of the profits.  i mention all of the credit because i've seen countless images that credit a product as by daz3d, when it's not even a daz original, it's an all out p.a. product.  each case has it's pros and cons.

i'm not sure how content paradise fits into this.   they aggragate both brokerages and independents, but if they were simply a brokerage, i don't think (though only he and sanctumartkitty know) sanctum art would have gone there after leaving daz3d.

Content Creator's Guild is a site that's been set up as a kind of advocacy community for independent vendors and artists - you can post your press releases/new products at no cost, use free, live chat, maintain your own blog, post videos and music and a whole lot more.

We are setting this up so that there's a collection of tools to elevate and promote independent vendors - not in competition to the brokerages but in a brokerage free environment. Ill make a new thread with more information. However please, please, please support your independent vendor friends by joining at http://www.contentcreatorsguild.net.

We have a LOT planned - but let me preface this all by saying the software vendors out there are very supportive and excited about CCG. Announcements coming!

Best regards,

chikako
