Or is there something seriously wrong with the Summer Haiku thread? My browser seems to lock up tight every time I click on it? Anyone else notice this?

I use Firefox, by the way.

A looooong time. And I have DSL. Which browser do you use? Maybe it's a Firefox thing?

I'm using firefox, version 1.5.0.3 suggest clearing your browser cache, clearing windows (if you use windows) temp files and rebooting your machine, then trying again.

Thanks for the suggestions.

It seems to work fine on page one of the Haiku thread, but when I click on 2, it comes up, but as soon as I try to scroll down it locks up. Then after a few seconds the entire browser window goes blank (not just the content, but the Firefox menus , sidebars - everything) so that all I have is a white page with a blue frame around it. I have to use task manager to kill it.

I tried your suggestion to clear the cache. Unfortunately, it did not help. And I already reboot daily. My Windows Temp file was virtually empty. I'd suspect it's just my flaky home computer, but I do sometimes have similar problems at work when  I'm visiting the NY Times site. Seems to be a recent phenomena.

I'm using Firefox 1.0.7, by the way.

Anyway, thanks for your suggestions. Guess I just won't be posting any Summer Haiku.

Well first off let me say, upgrade your firefox! lol :)

There's been several security fixes made to firefox so you should definitely be running the most up to date version. Try it then and see if you get the same error. I can't seem to replicate it here but if it's consistent, I could forward that on to the programmers to see if something wonky is going on with the php.

Well, isn't that interesting. I have my Firefox set up to automatically download updates, and when I force the issue via the Tools > Options > Software Update > Check Now button it comes back and tells me no new updates are available. Just so we're talking the same language, here is what I get from a direct capture from my About > Firefox from the Help menu:

Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.7.12) Gecko/20050915 Firefox/1.0.7
(I love it when I get no less than 4 rev numbers in the same query. Handy!)

Oh well, I'll go manually download and install the latest rev and see if that helps. You'd think if you tell it go go get updates it would.

Thanks. 'Nough said about my silly problem. Let's get this forum back on topic. Everyone go out and write something about travel!  😄

The new rev of Firefox seems to have fixed it. Thanks all.

"Well, isn't that interesting."  Me too.  I thought I was up to snuff on Firefox.  Just now downloaded the new version and am anxious to see.  Thank goodness the BBC "Latest Headlines" are still there.

Thanks Jon, and Thanks CrystalWizard.

jstro,
I too suffer from the blank screen syndrome, but know how to avoid it. (I'm using Netscape 7.2).
The problem occurs when you try to scroll down the thread -before- the text formatting tools have loaded above each text editing box on the page; if you just wait long enough for the whole page to load in its completion (ie. don't scroll or click anything) then all should be ok. The problem lies squarely with the new PHP forum programming and appearance. The Renderosity Forum (all of Renderosity's forums, not just the Writers' Forum) is the only site where this problem occurs for me.
I'd personally like to see implemented an option to disable the aforementioned text formatting tools.
