I did this animation using the swing posted recently; I never could figure out how the origin worked until Bloodsong gave us the secret.... This GIF is a severely cut-down version of the original animation, which is much smoother....I tried to include the proper body movements of someone actually swinging....did it work? Krel

Your movements are pretty good! Since the swing was mine, you may imagine that I'm also playing with the motions. You've captured the leg motion very well! Your work is a step ahead of mine, so I'm learning from you on this one! I do think that you might want her to lean back a bit more at the back of the swing motion... Thanks for sharing and for using my prop!

Will either of these poses be uploaded? (for Posette?)

Thanks guys!! Chanson, sorry I didn't credit you on the swing, I couldn't remember who posted it and in the heat of creating......well you know.....it's a nice object BTW thanks for posting..... I'd like to make the animation available, I just need to work out a host after I properly save it. As for leaning back further, it's hard to do without ripping her arms out of her sockets. Once I set the origin on the swing, I parented the figure to it and just manipulated the swing...it worked great! Krel

Krel this is great! :o) As for NOT ripping her arms off if you wish to lean her further back..do what I do when they don't fit the pose I wish..rescale the shoulder or forearm on the X axis! Just a tip you might find handy! :o)

Actually, if you just bring her hands lower on the ropes you'll give yourself room for her to lean back more. Of course, you'll have to animate the bend of the elbows as she leans forward and back, but that would be a more normal pose anyway, since I have yet to meet anyone who holds the ropes of a swing that far above their head. Go to the playground and watch the kids, you'll see what I'm talking about. Kate the Swinger ;-)

Looks good. Please do bring the hands down just a tiny bit (like the length of a hand). But I must be nitpicky (since you asked) and say you should begin to kick out the legs at the bottom of the swing... this is what we did as kids to gain upward momentum. The leg motion you have now appears to be caused by the swing-- not swinging caused by the leg movements. Good luck.

On on a side note - I've never seen anyone swing with their legs crossed. Very nice animation :)

No problem regarding the credit - it was a fast prop that was meant for a particular project, but which has turned out to teach us all something about props (see prior post in another thread) and to be fun! I agree about the hands - that's the limit on the back motion. For anyone trying to play with this posing... I've had some success with parenting the body of the figure to the swing prop... (and in my case parenting the swing to another object holding it by the loops). You can then set the hands where you want them and set IK ON for the hands. Start with your pose leaned forward all you want, and as you lean the model back, the elbows will compensate. Turn the IK OFF for the feet so that you can freely pose them by bending the knees, etc. As for the feet crossing, I've seen some kids and teens swing that way on playgrounds... but most do it with feet apart. I'm glad that my prop has been fun and has given me (and others I think) the chance to learn more about props and posing. It would be cool to get the pose file for this when it's ready, though! Depending on the size, I may be able to host it for you, Krel. I don't want to host nudity, but I could possibly host some of the poses...

Thanks for the suggestions.....I'll try to make some adjustments, save as a library setting, and repost....I guess I have to clothe her (I think she looks great topless, though)...... BTW my original point in doing this animation was to learn how to set the origin on the swing......did that but ended up somewhere else....... Krel

Nice! Where did you say is this playground localized? g I suggest, the movement of the breasts should follow the shin's movement (as they are now), i.e. " breasts flattended" for the most time the body is moving forward and "breast upturned" when swinging back.
