Subject: Having trouble rendering out to transparent background for compositing

Pedrith ( ) posted Fri, 02 June 2006 at 8:35 PM · edited Sat, 25 January 2025 at 12:50 PM

Hi. I'm trying to render out to a transparent background. I selected the render alpha channel, and tried all of the options. I even tried it as a gif, but the box to select transparency to white or black was not enabled. I am very new to Carrara and don;t understand what i am doing wrong. I plan to composite with Adobe Photoshop Elements 3. I'm running a G5 (non intel) mac with 2 gigs ram. Please help. Thanks. David

Try saving as a psd or tif that sould do it for you.

I did try saving it as a psd, but when i opened it in photoshop elements, I got only the full image as a background layer. Maybe I'm misunderstanding something, but shouldn't this render out the image in layers? David

try tif. psd support is old.

No need to think outside the box....
    Just make it invisible.

Pedrith you need to load the mask in Elements 3, ( click - select - load selection)
