Check out the Poser 6 forum at RDNA. Olivier has an excellent tutorial there on IBL Lighting. He's the guru of lights in my book :)

Thanks for the replys....
I checked the RDNA Poser 6 forum, i couldnt find anything much of interest there... Though i just found out how to read the older forum threads (god i hate bondware's forum system... so primitive) so i will read through the archives and see what i can find....
The image map im using is of a blue sky, i tried some others but never really noticed much of a difference....
And i do have raytracing enabled in my render settings....
I did get somewhere though earlier.... I was reading this guide on IBL...
http://www.daz3d.com/support/tutorial/tutorial.php?id=1553
It mentioned Sub surface scattering which i hadnt seen on any other IBL guides so i figured i would give it a shot and got the following...
Before Sub surface scattering = http://www.adultgamemods.com/el_tempo/slave_chick5.jpg
After Sub surface scattering = http://www.adultgamemods.com/el_tempo/slave_chick6.jpg
The lights and scene were pretty much the same yet the differences are VAST.... Im almost tempted to go back to using normal lighting, im starting to get headaches over this.... :glare:

Thanks for the link to the guide Acadia, quite an interesting read.... :biggrin:tainted_heart thanks for the advice !!!
I finally came out with a render which im somewhat happy with Its not perfect, the light kinda ruined the AO of the neck clothing piece, but overall its a vast improvement over my original version of the pic, i could try and perfect the pic but im somewhat sick of the sight of it so i think i will move onto something a bit different !!! I get the feeling i will be trying to learn this IBL lighting for quite some time but at least now im getting somewhere....
Thanks again all for your help !
I've added a link to my final render so you can all laugh at its crapness !
I don't think it came out crappy at all. It's not really all that bad. There's a lot to learn about IBL/AO. Spend some time experimenting with different light set ups, just remember to include at least one non-IBL/AO light with cast shadows on.
Here are a few links to get you started:

Add a specular only light to an IBL Image
Hope you find these helpful. The thing is not to get discouraged, just keep on trying. Each image you do will be a new learning experience and the more you learn the easier it gets.
It's all fun and games...

Hiya i was wondering if anyone could help me out with a problem im having with IBL lighting....
Whenever i use an IBL light in a poser scene it makes the lighting of the background scenery somewhat uniformed in lighting (i.e: there is no variance in the lighting over the whole background)... I have tried many different ways of lighting my scene and in the preview it looks right but then when i render i get the uniformed lighting....
I will admit i dont really know much about lighting but whenever i stick to basic lighting (spots, points) the lighting is semi respectable, but i enable IBL and blam i get the uni backlight....
Heres a few pics to show what i mean...(sorry but the forum system wont allow me to make the links clickable)

With that pic the lighting is semi decent, i get nice variance with the background scenery....
but when i enable IBL i get this....:glare:

Any ideas or suggestions would be welcome !!!
