Subject: Using Opera Web Browser in Marketplace

pzrite ( ) posted Fri, 09 June 2006 at 1:48 PM · edited Tue, 30 July 2024 at 4:07 AM

I just started using Opera web browser, and for some reason it won't allow me to get to the Check Out page after I put an item in my cart.  When I press the "Check Out" button I get a screen that says "Unable to complete secure transaction"

I checked all the settings on my browser, but I think it is not accepting the type of certificate used in the Marketplace.  Does anyone know what certificate type this is and how I can get Opera to play nice with it?

Thanks for any suggestions,

Leee

Hi Leee, I'm not sure. However I will look into it and let you know what I find out.

Thanks Stacy and Clint. I still have my Internet Explorer to fall back on to make purchases, but I really am liking Opera, it's such a cool browser! P.S. Nice guitar Clint, is that you playing it? If you're a musician, you might want to join our little musicians forum (an informal offshoot of the Cakewalk forums) called the "Other Place" http://www.smokedsalmonband.com/forum/ It's got a great bunch of musicians talking about music, gigs, instruments, politics, religion and everything else under the sun. Just tell them Leee sent you. Sorry I guess I got a little off topic. But I always keep an eye out for fellow musicians.

This problem came up a few months ago when Verisign went a bit weird. Opera does extra checks (OCSP) to make sure that a security certificate is still valid. If this check can't be made, then it assumes failure and so stops the whole thing. Close Opera, then TEMPORARILY add the following line to your opera6.ini, under the [Security Prefs] heading: OCSP Validate Certificates=0 The .ini file is the one usually found in [...]/Opera/profile/ Then start up Opera again and you can checkout without problems. When you're done, you should close the browser again and remove the line.
