Subject: Hi Q about Very "Mature" content in the Thumbnails?

FutureFantasyDesign ( ) posted Wed, 14 June 2006 at 1:03 AM · edited Wed, 31 July 2024 at 3:24 AM

I do have one question...Mature subject matter shown in the thumbnail. They are a few people who have the whole "shebang" in the thumbnail. I'm not a prude...but I think thumbnails should be a bit more "Classy" and leave a bit of surprise to the viewer. I only commented because I thought it was a TOU.  I saw an image that was a bit disturbing. I wonder if I can get the question of showing violence and other "Adult" and such things in full view in the thumbnails? Please don't jump me..I was looking at the new gallery, and even my Hubby was somewhat shocked at the image. And he is all for artistic expression. Just asking. ThanX for clarifying this.

This is a topic that we've briefly discussed last night, and will be addressing in the very near future as soon as any problems from the conversion are handled.

Thanks!

I 've been seeing some real eye-poppers yesterday!!!!  Frankly I am surprised that they were permitted to be uploaded here.  Since when does Renderosity allow outright S&M (bondage) images and photos of nude women laying spread eagle towards the camera, or a close up of a nude woman's crotch?!  LOL

With the old system, i thought you could select to block images with nudity or violence in them. Is it true that people no longer have the option, and only a warning tagline is placed under the thumbnail?

I'm not a prude either, and I have some images with nudity in them (but none with violence). I think people still ought to have the option to block those images entirely if they choose to.

I DON'T think the best answer is to prohibit nudity in the thumbnails (in case someone is considering that as a solution)...I think that's part of the artistic expression and should be left intact.

...my two cents...

I haven't seen alotta bondage stuff here, but there's plenty of nudity. it's one of the only places where teen-age boys can legally view this stuff for free, hence the popularity of the galleries here. however, as I understand it, trolls will occasionally post xxx-rated stuff that may slip by the gallery mods (not sure who they are).

Unless I'm mistaken, in the gallery there is a "my options" area.  If you go there, you'll find you can set your preferences for both nudity and violence.

I really wish nudity had it's own category....I mean ALL nudes created using ANY software.  That way the people who want to gape can go right ahead & those of us who don't want to see it never have to.

Yes, I know about the nudity filter, that said...but to wade thru all the content advisories/nudes is time consuming when trying to find the diamond in the ruff so to speak.  After so many pages I give up looking.

Not a prude here either...but I find them boring & well.......

I agree a nudity gallery for all type nudity would be great for those of us who don't get our kicks from viewing Nudity.

Sheesh I am happliy married and dont need to see all those 3d nude models which I find disgusting arfter a few minutes of wading through to see the genuine art that dont have to have nudity to enjoy. :)

:b_confused: Oh, okay, so that option IS still there...guess I don't see what the fuss is then? While I agree that people ought to try to show some class when they do their thumbnails for images that have nudity, I don't see why people should complain about nudity if they haven't set their profile to block nudity. In fact, isn't the default setting in the profile to block it? Used to be. Confused...

Hi sorry it took so long to answer in here...I think what I was meaning, is Only the severe visual assualt of "Some" thumbs. I do nudes as well...it is intrinsinct to art to do a nude or two in ones lifetime! But as a thumb, it isn't always nescessary to zero in on that aspect only. Plus...many a young'one can be in the gallery and it is hard to say what should or shouldn't be just "open" at a glance. It was more a clarification on what is policy, and polite to preview. I meant no form of Censorship what so ever! Just wish there was something left to the imagination on the previews.

Hi CrimsonMoon,

This issue has come to the forefront since the new galleries were opened and the admin will be discussing it and reviewing the guidelines :-)

So all the classic greek statues are not Art because they're nude?!

that's silly. Art and nudiy has nothing to do with each other. Nudity can be art and it can be just lewd porn. But it's not the nudity itself that decides that. It's HOW the nudity is displayed/used.

I am not exactly sure the photos of classic greek statues would have crotch shot thumbs if they were posted in galleries 😁 I am strongly against nude boobs/crotch in thumbnails. They make me think that the renders were created for showing this exactly area only and have no other message whatsoever. And that classifies for me as porn. And yes, I have turned filtering nudity on. Having nothing against nudes I would like to choose WHEN I look at them. I am not willing to be assaulted by boobs jumping at me when I least expect that.
