Subject: Clothing...Help!

Hi, I'm looking for a men's pair of "pantaloons" or doublet, something akin to the Elizabethan period and conforming at that, either free or bought. Also, where can I find tutorials on making conforming clothing? Thanks for your help. manowar

Nerd has a tutorial on making clothing conformable here: http://www.nerd3d.com/Tutorial/Conforming.htm I'm afraid I have no idea what a doublet is...:) -kimmarcus

Presumably it's two singlets. :)) Or half of a quadlet...OK I'll shut up now!

Half a quad?:) Well actually, the pantaloones and doublet are two distinct piectes. The former's like a pair of boxer shorts that blosoom out in a ribbed affair with the legs ending around the knees and where the hose is exposed. The doublet is a close fitting jacket of sorts. Think Errol Flynn in Captain Blood... Thanks for the help. One more question: in the store or maybe a freebee, there was a 18th men's costume, knee length coat, etc. Does anyone remember this and where one can get it? Is it me or do both areas seem depleted now? manowar

If you check Ghastley's site you can find the 18th century suit. He also has golf "plus fours" which might be morphed to make the pantaloons. (They gather below the knee, but should be shortenable?) http://209.92.41.204/Poser/ Also, Traveler over at BBay.com just came out with a complete ensemble for a roughly 14-15th c Squire: hose, shoes & boots, tunic, hat. The tunic top is about right for what you need (would require a transmap to shorten enough, and a different texture map), and the hat is similar to something Henry VIII wore. Poser World had a "pirate's outfit" which had a couple elements you could use, but they are being reworked as a site. The odd thing is that there exists some pieces of armor which have almost the right silhouette for the doublet (I'm thinking of the waist flare), but they might need to be scaled down a bit. Search for male armor and see if there is something useful. Happy hunting! Carolly

I checked 3dcommune's store completely and did a few searches on Renderosity. The thing is, you probably saw it at poserworld.com. Unfortunately they got bogged down in a big way with users downloading with Gozilla and Getright. They are coming back...as a pay site. Anyway...there is a knee length tunic at Pam Cresswell's site: http://www.cresswells.com/graphics/index.shtml dcort (at the 3dcommune store) has several nearly-floor length capes. There are some colonial items here: http://209.92.41.204/Poser/downloads.html Even I know that these are both the wrong period. LOL I figure it's better than nothing.... At daz3d.com there are some 14th/15th century men's clothing. http://store.daz3d.com/store/merchant.mv?Screen=PROD&Store_Code=ZP1&Product_Code=ps_ac085b&Category_Code=ps_hairapparel There are also some more tunics and Robin Hood type stuff at daz3d: http://store.daz3d.com/store/merchant.mv?Screen=PROD&Store_Code=ZP1&Product_Code=ps_ac024&Category_Code=ps_hairapparel BTW, I don't usually do this much research. I just went on a tear...:) Sorry I couldn't find more.

Wow! Thanks a lot for everyone's help. I can cheat a little historically and possibly alter the rest in some fashion (pun intended:). When this is complete, I'll get an image to the forum. Thanks again manowar

Pam's is a texture for the Costume CD, BTW. If you don't have this CD and can afford it, its quite good.

Yes, I have the costume CD from Zygote (DAZ) and it is pretty good. There's so many sites proliferating, (which is a good thing) but it's tough to keep a handle on where they are, what they offer, and when they're updated.

I agree Man o'War. I reformatted my computer and lost my favorites (dumb, forgot to back them up--along with everything else). Then bought a new one and am rebuilding my bookmarks. There are so many good ones, its hard to know all of them.
