Subject: need swastika-prop (with ANTI-Nazi intention!)

mr_Holger ( ) posted Fri, 16 June 2006 at 7:06 AM · edited Fri, 15 November 2024 at 12:02 AM

hello,
at first of all, I want to explain, that I my thread is absolutely anti-nazi and anti-fascism!

okay: I need a swastika (Hakenkreuz, as used under Hilter) as an prop for poser.
but it should have a broken angle/edge.

for what should it be used: as an teacher, I answer for democracy and try to show my pupils, how to express moral courage, even against Nazis!
I see with concerns all the litte Nazis, demonstrating on the streets and making hostility toward foreigners.

I hate that and I must do something against this in a civil every-day way. and so I thogut about making a sticker for my car. the label is "Labbies against Nazis!".

"Labbie" is the pet name for Labrador retriever. everybody, that has or had a dog, knows, that these dogs are knwon as child lovers and family-friendly dogs, that are absolutely non aggressive. but not to Nazis...
now I want to create a Labrador with the swastika in his mouth. the dog bites through the swastika and that's why the edge is bitten off and the bitten part is hanging on a yarn (cannot explain it right in english, I think, because my english is not very well).
the message is "even the most friendly dog will not let Nazis leave alone, when they would like to destruct democracy".
okay, and that's why I need such an prop.

(Feel absolutely free to ask me more, If you could not understand what I mean. If I could paint a little bit better, I would like to make a little picture for what I want to create with poser. but I could not.)

thank you very much!

holger

Make a hand drawing of what you want and scan it in and post it.

TrekkieGrrrl ( ) posted Fri, 16 June 2006 at 7:46 AM

So you want a swastika with one corner bitten off, right?

Gimme a moment...

yes, a swastika with one corner bitten off.
I asked someone with artistic capability for making an example-pic.
Hope, that I can post today.

okay, my friend was really fast!!!!
here is an painting, that shows similarly what I want to do with poser and the swastika.

Rename the attached .txt file to swastika.obj and import it into Poser

Hope you can use it.

If you want one without the bite mark, let me know :o)

Gah! You can't attach .txt files anymore?!

OK get it here then: http://trekkiegrrrl.dk/BittenSwastika.obj (probably rightclick and Save As)

The texture is a custom version of Ajax's slime shader btw. Easy to make, just change the green colours to red ones, and change the P node's y value to something smaller (that'll make the blood/slime crawl higher)
Ajax' shaders are here in FreeStuff :o) (provising you use P5 or 6)

That's a neat idea, though it might currently depend a little too much on out-of-picture knowledge of the dog.

@ernyoka1:**
WOW! **
you are so fast!
great work, I thank you a lot.
now I can make my imagine real.
as an absolute poser beginner - greenest greenhorn ever I think -  it will take a long time, I fear.
but it will be.

I never heard about Ajax's slime shader, but I will instantly look for it in the freestuff.

thank you again!

in the states, at least, labrador retrievers are implicated in the most attacks against children, even though such breeds as "presa canarios" (sp?) and "pit bulls" are bred for fighting, hence they've got a worse rep. p.s. good work, trekkie. I understand the neo-nazis were trying to ruin things associated with the recent world cup events.

@Mr_holger (jeg undrer mig stadig over om du ER fra Struer...)
It wasn't exactely any master model, it's fairly simple, hence the speed G

BUT

you inspired me to a new freebie, one I hope you can use as well: An exploding swastika. it has two morphs for two different ways of blowing it up. The fire is NOT included, that is simply an extra coopy of the swastica, z-scaled a bit smaller as to not poke through, and equipped with Ajax' FireElemental FX (also found in his Free Shader Pack together with the slime and a LOT of other highly usefull shaders)

Anyway, it's available now at my homepage, this time Poser ready and all (sorry I never made the bitten swastika Poser ready, however it should import without problems, and I have split vertices and all so it won't blow up with Poser's smoothing ;o)

I'll upload it to Freestuff here, but I'm not sure if a swastika, even an exploding one, is against the TOS...

I'll check with the other staff and see what they think, Lisbeth.
I understand the intention is totally anti-Nazi, but it concerns me that it might upset some German members. We do sometimes get complaints about historical pics which have authentic display of the SS or swastika. I'll discuss with the other staff.

oh. maybe  a simple effect of  the pure quantity? unfortunately the labrador retriever is en vogue since the last years and that's why you can find it everywhere. unwarrantable breeders bring them on the market as an  "mass-product".  no wonder, that they degenerates into crazy dogs.
in germany,  it is the german sheperd, that is the numer one in the biting-charts.

oh, I am so sorry! right you are.  I didn't want to disgruntle anybody!
please delete my thread . I thought about it - and now I see clear: there should not be any nazi-symbols for download. regardless of whether they are for anti-nazi action or not.
Nobody can prevent the download by neonazis and this must not be allowed.
please believe me, that I didn't wanted this. I am really sorry.

TrekkieGrrrl ( ) posted Fri, 16 June 2006 at 3:30 PM

Well.. there's no need to going to extremes and delete the whole thread. I certainly won't like that (it would nmean I'd have to repoast my props LOL) but I AM aware of the tricky thing regarding posting swastikas here, which is why I wrote the way I did - if TOS allows. And believe me, I will fully understand if it doesn't, because, no matter what I put in the ReadMe (that the prop must not be used in any pro-nazi renders) we all know that if t CAN be used as such, it WILL be.

So, if it IS against the TOS to put my esploding Swastika in Free Stuff, just don't :o) I won't be mad or scream "censorship" or anything. It's a tricky thing for sure.

BUT.. it's also dangerous and limiting for fre speech if we can't even mention the nazis and their atrocities. Already the numbers of people denying the Holocaust is growing. And that's partially becaus of censorship. When people aren't allowed the fcts for whatever reason, the guessing and rumors start.

In Denmark, where I live, we have a party which is currently the second-largest in the parliament, and their agenda is a thinly weiled nazi one. But because they actively claim NOT to be neonazis, they're sudeenly legit (and for the record, due to the danish constitution, the Nazi party is actually legit here, and existing, albeing with very few supporters - luckily mostly because the leader is an absolute jerk. People who're in any way acquainted with danish WW2 history may know Fritz Clausen, a sorry-ass idiot who was made leader of the danish nazi party back at the times. Well the current chairman isn't much better)

Uhm.. sorry. I knw Rosity isn't the place for Political soap box speeches. But as I'm very actively anti-nazi, I couldn't help myself.

Mr_Holger please do not delete anything.

Nono, I don't want to delete the thread, and personally I'm in favour of allowing the freestuff item, I just want to gauge the opinion of my fellow staff.

Personally I believe that "Those who forget history are condemned to repeat it."

dear ernyoka1,
oh how I wish my english would be better than these pidgin-phrase I produce!
there is much worth to think about your posting and I will do.
in my classroom, there are in every class of 25 pupils two Nazis.
some days ago, I made my annually evaluation of my education-quality, and one of the teens wrote on the paper:
"You have cleared up your opinion on Neonazis more than once in your lectures.  that has disturbed me!"
this is hard for me .

Miss Nancy ( ) posted Fri, 16 June 2006 at 4:29 PM

Herr Holger, Setzen Sie bitte Ihre Bemungen gegen die Neonazis fort. Wir wschen Ihnen gutes Glk!

KarenJ ( ) posted Fri, 16 June 2006 at 4:46 PM

OK the other staff all agreed with me, so it's in :-)

Great!

I fully would have understood if it had been deemed not ok.. but as you say: Those who forget history are condemned to repeat it

I like that phrase! a lot!

And Mr_Holger... I will spare you my miserable german, but I agree with Miss Nancy: Keep educating the idiots, that's the only way they'll ever grow beyond that idiocy!

As one of the mentioned german members I think I throw my two pennies in... I think the intention here is obviously anti-fascistic so I'm glad you did not delete the images! I think that some things taht you can get here, like SS-uniforms, are much more problematic, even if they do not contain any symbols. Maybe I'm alone with my opinion, but I think that some uniforms  are nothing people should play around with - although I'm aware that in some other countries the "Third Reich" is more kind of a cruel fairy tale than true history. Maybe because it's hard to believe that all this really happened not so long ago.

Oh and:  Incredible and very original picture that your friend made, Mr_Holger!

and yes, it is a really thin red line between ligth and shadow.
since even the startrek ship enterprise was embroiled into a direful story with NAzis and aliens, I fear, that in some minds of some childs the Nazis are a lot of people, that lived sometimes ago in Castle Wolfenstein and had funny uniforms. and that's all.

SaintFox ( ) posted Sat, 17 June 2006 at 3:38 AM

Sad but true (and funny in a grim way) - people with funny uniforms behaving strange... I don't want to make a big thing of it but I belong to the first after-war-generation of my family so I know everything just from the few things my grandparents and parents told me. As social-democrats that refused to join the NSDAP they experienced the horror of this time as actor and not as audience. I can honestly say that it's not true what so many people say: "It's time to let it be..." - because in fact the generations that where lucky enough to be born into a demokratic Germany still have to carry the burden of the broken heart of their families.

Sorry,  this sounds so elegic and sentimental... but I'm so fed up with these young ones that you talk about because they simply do not listen and refuse to see what cannot be overlooked.

I'm not always right, but my mistakes are more interesting!
