Who or what is/are excalibur (that I now get preceding my renderosity URLS)? Should I be worried? It didn't used to be there...

I giggled when I saw the name. Seems the majority of servers in the world are named after either King Arthur or Lord of the Rings.

Personally I think it would be great if Renderosity named it's next server "Bobasaur." After all "Bobasaur" is just as good a name as any found in KIng Arthur or Lord of the Rings. Just think about it. Mordred sounds too morbid and Frodo sounds so dodo (he was, after all, just a short hobo). Bobasaur, however, sounds big and grand and dignified yet contemporary and respectable. Think of it as "product differentiation" in marketing terms. renderosity.com.bobasaur It has a wonderful ring to it! I suppose you could also call it renderosity.com.bob for short.

p.s. I know I put .bobasaur higher than .com in the heirarchy. Renderosity inspires me to think big.

there's another new server called "camelot" for the freestuff (6/15). I found I couldn't get to the site using anything but "market", as the "www" prefix didn't work today.

Just remember -- whoever pulls Excalibur from the stone is destined to become the King of all Nashville!  Or rather.....whoever gets their server handed to them from the Lady in the Lake......or something like that......

I suppose that it'll be OK -- so long as the server doesn't get thrown back into the lake.

I'm betting the next new server name will be "arthur" , not "elvis" :lol:

IIRC, Mad Magazine used to randomly insert a potted plant with the name 'ARTHUR' written on the pot into the backgrounds of their comic panels.

Someone is an Arthurian legends fan.  Good for them (so am I - that's also why I've got no use for the recent movie claiming to give us the 'real' King Arthur.  Sort of like the 'real' Batman.).  Sure beats the early-to-mid 80's -- when everybody's system password was 'Luke_Skywalker' -- or some variant of the name.

Didn't mean to insult any 'Luke Skywalker's' that we might have in the membership here.  I haven't checked the roster.

I can't say that I'm impressed with the new servers. Why does Renderosity feel a need to continue jacking with the community when they finally get some of the bugs worked out of it?

I hit the 'Rosity Comic Strip page tonight to read the latest  comment and absolutely none of the images housed on the 'excalibur' server load up. Last week's "Wren Derosity" comic still works, but that's probably due to it still being stored on the 'market' server.

When you folks stuck the sword into the stone, it's single-handedly killed the comics' page.

Believe me, its not a matter of "jacking" with the community in regards to switching out our servers. Its a matter of "have to" at this point.

We are working hard to resolve the server issues and I think we are stabilized now.

Oh, good... anniemation's mentioned to us that the Comics Page gets it's most hits on the weekend, and we were creeping up on the weekend with nothing to show for it. Thanks for fixing it. :o)

This morning around 4 AM (CST), the images on the 'Rosity Comics page which were supposed to be stored on the excalibur server were all 404. This afternoon when I checked again, the problem had been corrected.

Yes as stated it took a little time to get all the links corrected with the new server.
