Subject: Files not loading correctly in runtime

jjean21 ( ) posted Fri, 16 June 2006 at 6:36 PM · edited Mon, 23 December 2024 at 1:58 PM

I'm not sure if I can explain this correctly but I'll try. I use ZipFast to open my downloaded files to my P5 runtime. I have just recently received a zip file that on extraction to my runtime has the following problems:

  1. Does not display all the thumbs

  2. P5 cannot locate the pz2's  and I have to find them manually

  3. Cannot locate textures even though they're where they belong

  4. The name on the original file has actually had the spelling changed... ie, seren is now serAn and another sEren

Let me stress that I've downloaded the same zip file 3 times with the same result and the files are complete, nothing missing and everything does go into the runtime where its supposed to. Any ideas on what the problem might be or how to correct it is greatly appreciated as I'm a computer idiot.

Sounds like the zip is packed incorrectly. Which product or freebie is this?

I've been using ZipItFast and just recently downloaded the Pro version. I might add that the first time I opend the zip file not only didn't the files go where they should have in the runtime but the entire file disappeared from the zip. However, this is the first time this has happened.

The product is 'Seren' and I've seen renders posted using her, the artist who created her was kind enought to gift her to me and a few others and no one else seems to have had this problem....just me sigh

I haven't downloaded anything since so is it possible the program I use has corrupted somehow?

Try unzipping to a temp folder and see how the files are set up. YOu will be able to eye ball it better and see what is what

So what happens when you unpack it with Winzip or Winrar or something other than Zipfast?

I only have the one program but may try using another. I finally loaded all the files manually and renamed some of them as there was an unusual character in the file names. Everything seems to work now except the texture for the neck which I had to do in the material room. Thinking it may have been the file after all. Thank you for all your help.

If the merchant hasn't had complaints from any other customer and can't reproduce the problem then I'd suggest it has to be a fault with the Zipfast program.
