Please look into this,. because we should not have to leave RR in order to maintain a safe viewing environment for our smaller, younger family members. THANK YOU!!!!!!!! Claudia Lee
There has been nudity in galleries since the beginning. You have the option not to view it. Check out your viewing options and filter it out, rather than ask the site to make even MORE major changes.
Look in your gallery options and check "Filter Nudity", some people's option reset during the transition.
I believe that the pictures with nudity belong in the category that the artist uploads them, as there's often more to it than just "nudity".

This is an art site, it has nudity.
There is a filter arrangement you can take advantage of to filter out images containing nudity and violence.
It is not this, or anyother, site's job to shelter your children/grandchildren from something YOU don't want them to see. That is the job of parents/grandparents.
And one other thing, just who decides what is family orientated? To most of the world simple nudity is rarely considered offensive and hardly even raises a comment. In my own family, for example, we have all used Poser at times and both my daughters have produced some excellent results, including nudes.

I recommend the filters if this is a big problem for you. Then, as a responsible parent and grandparent, you can be selective in accordance with your personal tolerance, rather than restrict the artists in RR.
However, this is an excellent opportunity for you to enrich your children and granchildren's lives by teaching them of the beauty of God's creation, the human body in its created form. You have the ability to help them have a healthy attitude towards the body, rather than one that is filled with fear and shame.
I have one last suggestion if this is unsatisfactory to you. Try to find a gallery that shows non-offensive art in accordance with your needs. I am wondering if there are some religious galleries that would fit your limitations. I mean no disrespect, I am only offering options to consider. Segments of some faith communities have strict positions on nudity, therefore, they might appeal to you.
I hope this helps. Best wishes...
Suzanne

nudity (giant boobs) has been the theme of this site since 98 or 99. I recall willow struggling with this issue, and it has been a cause cre ever since, even leading to the creation of new sites due to the perception that there isn't enuff nudity here  I see no reason to change what works. nudity's why the galleries are so popular, it's what draws casual visitors to the site, and it's what gets people interested in buying and using the associated software. nobody's forcing anybody to look at the nudity, so it's a matter of parental control. if a site is offensive to a parent due to nudity, then just forbid one's children from visiting it. don't ask the site admins to babysit and police your children's activities, when you can do a far better and more thorough job of it.
Good point, Radlafx.
Not only could one hit a "content advisory" thumb by accident in the wrong situation - I wouldn't want to view nudity when I'm at work, could get me in trouble! - there's also the fact that a significant percentage of the uploaded images contains nudity. What impression does a site make when you have sequences like this (depends on the gallery, of course):
You'll catch my drift. A thumbnail page like that would look very weird to my boss if he were to watch over my shoulder. And in the case of minors, I think they can't help wondering what it's all about and why they are forbidden to look at it. Basic principle of psychology: if it's forbidden, it's exciting. (Comparisons with drugs or alcohol might be in order).
No, it's better to hide those thumbs from view when the nudity filter is enabled.
The pen is mightier than the sword. But if you literally want to have some impact, use a typewriter
I think we need to steer clear of telling people how to raise their children, and focus on educating the members who 'may not know' about the filters that are in place to help them.
Quote - Even when the "nudity" box is selected someone may accidentally click on the content advisory thumb. With the old system if you did NOT want to see nudity it just didn't show.
I have asked about this..will wait and see what is said about it

More of the out of sight, out of mind attitude? It's probably the same thing as why only teaching abstinence never works either. I agree that the other system of hiding the thumbnails when the nudity filter was on was a better idea, but it never stopped the complaints about it anyway.
At least this way they have the proof that it is working right before them even if it causes them to wonder what they're missing. I don't know about "accidents" is that like the example "I was cleaning it and it went off?"
If your boss looks at the web page you're viewing then wouldn't you have a better explanation as to why you're looking at the page? If your job is art related and you're looking at it for a reference then, nudity shouldn't make much difference. If you're on a break and looking at it then no nudity isn't going to be much of a defense either. Either you're allowed to surf Render at work or you're not I doubt the nudity issue is going to contribute much to whether or not you're going to get into trouble for it.

Yeah! There's no telling what they could break this time! ;) They have to leave something for the Company BBQ in September.

The nudity filter does work. You need to go to "My Options" while you are on the gallery pages (not the forum pages) and set your preferences for nudity and violence.
It does work, as I use it.
sinning every minute is an art form
Stacey, does that mean that the thumbs for images with nudity are visible with a text message below? If that is the case I may have to change the way I do thumbs on the occasional nude images I paint.
If the Content Advisory only shows in place of the image, I will continue to submit a thumb of my image as is for those viewers who don't mind nudity.
Thanks for clarifying this issue.

No, the whole thumbnail is replaced with a "Content Advisory" icon.

bummer.
That would be a great help if everyone could go in their galleries, and just check and make sure all the nudity is flagged like it should be.

No, all tags have been carried from over from the old galleries. (Although obviously if you hadn't set the flag correctly on your original upload, it'll still be wrong!)
However, if you had your options set to not show nudity, then you may need to double-check that you're still filtering nudity out. (It seems that it did carry over for some people, but not others.)

Dear Renderocity Administrators:
Some of us would very much like to see a separate category for "NUDITY." When viewing the pages with our families (children and grandchildren) It is inappropriate for RR to have some of these photographs posted with what should be family-oriented pictures. Since they only show up when you are logged in, is a very poor way to do this, because you must login in order to view the galleries. Please look into this,. because we should not have to leave RR in order to maintain a safe viewing environment for our smaller, younger family members. THANK YOU!!!!!!!! Claudia Lee
