I can't speak for Corel Painter, but I do have the KPT filters and they are fantastic.
"It is good to see ourselves as
others see us. Try as we may, we are never
able to know ourselves fully as we
are, especially the evil side of us.
This we can do only if we are not
angry with our critics but will take in good
heart whatever they might have to
say." - Ghandi

If you want to learn more about Painter, the link provides some info and the Painter Master's link shows what people have done with the program.Amazingly, Corel's KPT Collection page doesn't show a single example of what the filters can do. It's embrarrassing.

I thought somebody might be interested in the current promotion for Corel Painter combined with the Kai's Power Tool filter collection going for $99. This is the eductation edition, so it's not for everybody, but there are a lot of students here and a lot of parents of children, still in school, that could benefit from this deal.Painter is an incredible painting program and I'm disappointed that Corel hasn't done a very good job of promoting it (there isn't a single tutorial for the program on the site).
The KPT filters is a cool collection of KPT 5, 6 & Effects. Goo, alone, is almost worth the price because it has the most powerful means of moving pixels around in an image. It's a great tool for fixing joints that are bulging inappropriately.
I highly recommend this bundle.
