Hi.I don't see anyone answering any questions about this or offering any explanations about it,either, so I thought I'd start a thread...

When I uploaded on Sunday a number of people said that they hadn't received an ebot for me...and it seems I'm still not getting ebots for some of them, as well.For instance,this is the second day in a row that I haven't gotten one for Andreas and nobody seems to be getting his ebots either.

Is anyone else having this problem?

Is there anything that can be done about it? Is it possibly something in my options that I need to reset?Because I don't understand it and I feel bad not knowing if a favorite artist of mine has uploaded.

Incidentally,I do not intend for this to become a debate about ebots vs visiting the gallery and commenting and favorites,and all that...I simply want to know what's going on and if I can count on it being resolved.

Well we did some things today and then tested heavily the ebots. I set up four accounts with four different email providers, then added favorite artists to it and then those four uploaded images. I got every ebot I was supposed to get and the artists got all their ebots saying I had added them to my favorites. So keeping fingers crossed and just let me know how the next few days go with your ebots:)

I found all my ebots in my junk folder because the address they are coming from is not the same. ... AND, it seems that thread bots and comment bots are coming from 2 different addresses.

As above, I get e bots but my mail filter seem to have decided they are junk mail and deals with them as such.

The ebot problem has been resolved but as stated by some since they come from different email addresses maybe they are getting caught in your junk mail or spam filters Margana:)

I am going to test this   for an ebot now.
I had a few questions on this issue, and  was going to post in mod forum after work.
So far I have been getting all my ebots.
Some come at different times. And some come  in a flood.
Right now it appears to be fine.
 Anyone who finds this still happening, please send me an IM so I can tally them up.

Thanks Doug. I did heavy testing today and got all I was supposed to so, we'll see.

What happened to my home page?! I went there to to view my favorite artists the was nuttin there? Btw I'm getting forum ebots but missed some fav gallery ebots. (which is the reason i went to my home page). Edit: Would be nice if we could preview our gallery uploads.

In your gallery....you will see my favourites. If you go to your homepage, you still see the drop down selections to get to your gallery.
Will see if we can work on some  faster way.

Great thread Marlene!!! I´ve been getting ebots for all my favorites these last couple of weeks....except you Marlene. So it can´t be the spam filter on my end or i would get no ebots at all. I did however get an ebot saying you added one of my photos to your favorites, so that seems to work. But i never got one when you uploaded although i got for all my other favs that uploaded at that same time.

I don´t know when you all tested this but i uploaded around 11.30am RR-time (tuesday) and appareantly none got ebots for that. But maybe you got it fixed now. :huh:

Speaking of Homepages...whenever i go visit ones homepage i end up with SQL error messages written all over the page. And that happens EVERY time. I thought you should know that.

I don't know what to say.I checked my spam filter and nothing's there,(aol saves them)...and I only got a single ebot for this thread...for Valou's reply.Then nothing!

Maybe tomorrow I should run a test image like I saw Clint do today?

I don't know what else to do.  :(

Oops.Too late to edit...Some actually were deleted by my spam filter...9 different uploads by my favorite artists...and now I've hopefully 'taught' AOL that it's not spam...but...even amongst those,there were no ebots for this thread or for my friend,Andreas.

Just thought I should clarify...

Andreas.....you should be seeing the homepages just fine now.
 I was getting those too.
 I think once the galleries have the resize scripts all in place, and a few other bugs worked out , we will all be accustomed to the new style, and it will be running smooth and fast.

I think that is why I like Outlook Express for the ebots.
Seems the online ones  send stuff to junk too much.

Okay thanks Doug. Going back to the issues of e-bots. When i woke up this morning and started browsing the gallery i noticed that 4 of my favorite artists had uploaded....but i hadn´t gotten a single e-bot for any of them. And it used to be only Marlene i didn´t get an e-bot for....soooo what´s up with that???? :huh:

It could be because I noticed now ther are sending it out as Renderosity Galleries as the "from" ...before it was ebot@renderosity.
Perhaps  your mail set up  has that new one blocked.
Sometimes changing the configuration of your email preferences will get things moving again.

Nope, that aint it. If that was the case then i wouldn´t get any right? But i have gotten one out of five ebots today. So it comes very randomly. I got one for your reply right now....but i didn´t get one for Marlene´s. And i got an ebot for one of my favorite artists today....but none for the other four that uploaded. So it feels very unrelieable. And since i get them randomly like that, it can´t be on my end the problem is....or i shouldn´t get any at all. :mellow:

It's not so much email issues as ebot issues,I think.But it seems to be okay for the moment.I got this one afterall,lol.

I guess I'll finally know for sure once I've uploaded myself....

We think we located the problem that has been causing the "sporadic" ebot issue. So please try and see if you get everything you should for anything after 3:00pm system time.

With the chance of sounding like a big cry baby....but i still aint getting any ebots. :sad: Two of my favorite artists uploaded an hour ago and i never got an ebot for them. Are there any hope at all that this issue will be resolved or should i just stop whining? :tt2:

You're not alone,Andreas.I just checked and  I only got one for a favorite of mine,but not for two others... I don't understand why it works sometimes and not other times...So you never know if you are getting them all or not.

I thought it was fixed.Thanks for bringing it to my attention,even if it's not good news.

And lol,why are we the only ones complaining about this?I guess no one else is bothered by it or they are getting all of theirs...

We´re troublemakeeeeeers!!!! LOL. :tt2: Personally i "whine" because the ebots have always been really helpful when i work or go away for a few days.

And just so you mods know....no ebots have ever ended up in my junkmail as it seems to have been the case for some. No junkmails at all...just random e-bots. And it´s not specific individuals either. I might get an ebot for X on tuesday, but on wednesday when X uploads again i wont get one. So they aren´t very relieable. :mellow:

Andreas, who is your email service provider? I got an ebot for korts upload.

Just an update that we are still researching this issue trying to figure it out..uuugggh. Its so strange and hard to track what the problem is because its so sporadic. I mean if none were coming it would be easier to figure out the problem, LOL.

it has nothing to do with email provider okay. Why would my email provider selectively pick out certain e-bots and not deliver them???? And i don´t have a filter activated for spam or junkmail so none gets stuck there. Yes i too got one for Kort. I never got one for punaguy though. How do you explain that? But i´m sure that the next time he uploads i´ll get one for him. But then i probably wont get one for Kort. That´s how it works, and maybe it´s only like that for me and Marlene for some unexplainable reason. And if that is the case i will gladly shut up. Everyone that got an ebot for punaguy or kimarie earler today raise your hand?

i just had about 10 people say they never got ebots for my last two uploads...

i am wondering if its that or my works going downhill cause i am not getting the comments i used to I just had two more people write me and say no ebots sorry kimarie almost missed the one of chrissy and her pretty eyes.. sigh ...))) wondering if i should just not post for a while here... i am geting down about it...

I wasn't getting ebots either but was trying to be patient. (that's not easy!!) Then I checked my spam mail and they were there! I moved them from spam to the inbox and haven't had a problem since. This included both announcements of your uploads and comments on mine. Wierd! Jodie :0)

Yup yup....still not getting all ebots. Not for the forum nor the gallery...just sporadically. I can relate to how you feel Kimmie and it´s not so much the lack of comments that annoy me. It´s that i upload to this site because i want to share photos with my friends and if i´m lucky i´ll get a positive (or negative, that i can learn from) response. And there just don´t seem to be that many people browsing the galleries anymore, most seem to follow e-bots since it´s the easiest way to keep up with your favs and friends. And when your friends wont even know that you uploaded....well what´s the point of uploading?

Anyhooo......I´m done with all of this now. Can´t take anymore of this frustration. A little while ago the site was down...and then it got some weird looking layout that didn´t allow you to access neither the forum nor the site-mails. Freezes on ya and is generally slow. Hasn´t it been long enough now oh you programmers of RR? One would think they´d get this place up and running by now. But nope. Someone be a doll and gimme a holler when this site works again? :mellow: Take care people!!!!!

i counted 17 people so far wrote me and told me ( and the junk mail thing had nothing to do with it )

( 5 that are close friends ) said they are not getting ANY EBOTS of my postings .. but are gettin ebots from others..

 i am very dissapointed.

i know they are trying but i am discourged sorry to vent.

LOL! Aww. This isn´t a decision taken straight out of the blue Tofi. I love this place, and i spend waaaaay too much time here. And that´s why i can´t take the frustration much longer. I´m not leaving permanatly....unless they never get the technical issues worked out. I like this new format....i do. It´s grown on me. I´ll admit i didn´t like it at first. But now i do. Unfortunatly it feels like a job half-done. So like i said....give me a holler when it´s back on its feet again and i´ll return to join the fun.

LOL. I will never fully leave Kimmie, and i would never dream about deleting my gallery just because certain things here upset me. I love Renderosity and i love its members. I´ve made some amazing friends here including yourself and i would never walk away from that. But i shall take a little break till they get these issues sorted.

P.S. Just so you know Kimmie.....i never got an e-bot for your latest upload either. But i got one for other artists like Kort / twopynts. Infact i have always gotten an ebot for him and Dave/punaguy...but only 2 or so from you out of maybe 8 uploads. And that´s just not fair is it? It would actually be better if they scrapped that feature all together than only having it work for some. That´s my opinion at least. Now i´m done bla bla-ing.....i see a butterfly out on my lawn with my name on it. See ya.

So you all depend on those ebots? Funny, I never, never had any ebots, because I never did this 'favorite artists' thing. I just browse the galleries and look at what catches my eye. And when I don't feel like browsing, or don't have the time, there's no ebots, and sorry, no comments from me. And yes, I also feel I'm getting less comments than before, but maybe that's because I have been absent and didn't comment myself... And another thing: maybe those ebots aren't such a good idea after all... Of the sixty or seventy people that leave comments on Kimmie's or Andreas' posts, there are maybe 50% that never or seldom look at most other people's images... and that's not very community-like, is it? I mean (and I think Kimmie knows what I'm talking about), some people can post a 'dud' and still get loads of positive response, while an extremely freaking good picture right next to it hardly gets any viewings. Thanks to those ebots. And what's the value of that response, if you know they're gonna comment and say something positive anyway, no matter what you post? Do you get my rage? Well, it's not really a rage LOL, but I find it frustrating sometimes, and really embarassing, and I assure you, not only for me. If someone's angry with me because of my writing, please feel free to use the IM system to talk about it...

not angry you have a good point.. i understand maybe i have just taken it all for granted and need an attitude adjustment...i am open minded and teachable and really quite humble ... thanks for putting me in my place. i should shut up . i always try to comment on an image if its good..i browse thru the gallerys more than ebots myself and highly admire respect what people do and try my best grow and to learn . lol i am still a baby only been at photography for a year now..before that i drew and painted . andreas got me going after finding me in 2d - so at timez i get insecure...( admitting it too here )  lol
