Subject: Character Combination

Hi! I'm quite knew to Poser (I'm using Poser 6) and so I want to ask a question.

I've tried to combine some parts of the bodies of Victoria 3 and Furrette 2. I some how managed to export the needed parts of both figures as wavefront OBJ files.

My problem is now when I import both files and combine them to a new character, I cannot morph and change the body parts anymore.

Is it possible to combine two figures and still be able to morph them? I mean like changing the headshape of Furrette or the Vicky body.

I would be glad if someone could help me^^

make one head and the other body invisible, then the morphs still work. there is another trick to do what you want by deleting bones (joints), but I don't recall how it works.

Thanks  , I gonna try it, but I think this should work 👍

You should be able to copy the head morphs from Furette and the body morphs from V3 to the new CR2 with morph manager. That's my guess in anycase. I'm sure someone who knows from experience will come in and say it works or poo poo the idea.

Hmm what about PhilC's site, the program shape shifter, it's for the unimesh characters, but I don't know alot about Furette as far as how she is made so it may or may not work. Just a thought.

Shapeshifter - Copy Head
a) Load up 2 millenium figures
b) Click on the figure you want to modify
c) Choose 'Copy Head.'
d) Use the smoothing tools in Wardrobe Wizard on the neck seam if necessary.

I have used Shapshifter for switching heads on a uni-mesh figure but I can't figure out the last step, the smoothing of the neck... the PTB can smooth body parts? I can't figure out how. I would like to smooth the abdo and chest on Jessie. I can't figure out my log-on at the PhlC forum so I have not asked there.

It probably will not work on Furrette.  It's free, so It's worth a try, at least.  It works on mesh characters of the same vertice count.  Between YT Laura, Aiko, and V3 works like a charm.  Between other characters, you start running into problems.  You could swap around M3, M3toM2, and Freak, but NOT M2.

The way to make a seperate charcter out of chop-shop pieces IS doable!  I have seen the results!   I think the chacter is Nene, or Tenten.  I've never done it, but you DO need Morph Manager to do it successful.  there are tutorials here and there.  Hope this helps!  A little?

How I done it was a pain.I took the V2 figure and exported the head as an .obj then deleted the figure. I loaded the Posette figure and put the head in outline preview style. I positioned the V2 head as best possible and selected the Posette head and did "Replace body part with prop..." and unchecked "bending" on the propertiies. Saved the figure. Used MorphManager which is a free utility, to remove the Posette head morphs and copy in the V2 morphs. I opened the composite figure again and used a bunch of small magnets to get the neck sewn to the head. I made magnets on the eyes to position them properly and saved that as morphs. I smudged the bad neck/head seam when it was visible in the render using Photoshop. Then I found on the internet a Posette/Vicky figure by someone who actually new what the were doing and had re-sculpted the neck to remove the seam.

here's yamato's tutorial for putting v2's head on v3.  i think it's basically what was described above, but with pictures.  morphing the neck might be easier with wings3d or some other modeling tool if you're familiar with one.

yamato's tutorial

shapeshifter will only work within the same mesh.  so v2 and the orginal mill kids (male and female will work together,  all the unimesh figures will work together, the new e-Frontier figures will work together, etc.  furrette will not work with v3 in shapeshifter.
