i think that this link contains incredible macro shots... nothing near mine as magnification and sharpness...
maybe it was used Canon MPE-65mm...

Manual focus?On a living,moving object?Ummmm...doesn't sound like something this 'myope',(I'm nearsighted),could ever successfully do....unless I somehow just got lucky...Sigh... :(
Anyway,cool-looking housefly,Andreas. You certainly got a fine amount of detail considering the difficulties you encountered.Much better,I think, than I could ever do...Thanks for sharing.

The shots at that link are very motivating...I think many of us would love to achieve such results,so we benefit by learning from eachother's experiences.Don't you think?
IÂ know I would like to hear from anyone who' s attempted to do macros like this.I can only learn from it. :^)

i don' t use automatic options of my camera (includin' autofocus) since so many time...
probably the manual focus is the best way to capture macro shots!
hard to believe but the eyes are the better "autofocus" :)
I understand,Mayda. And I agree....But it can be very difficult to use manual focus with a 'live' subject...It requires some very fast focussing!
And with eyes like mine...well,let's say,that's a bit of a challenge,... :(
Okay...Abandoning insect macros...portraits anyone? LOL. ;^)
Just kidding.

i agree with you about the very fast focussing...
about the eyes ... for me is a challenge too... i dress glasses since one month ... hard to be sure that the focus is correct :( for me is a tragedy :((((
That's exactly it....You never know! :crying:
But...But...I've seen what you've done...and it's been beautiful. So you have given me hope.
PS I hope no one thinks this off-topic...If so,my apologies.... :^/

Just a thought - Does the diopter adjustment on your camera ensure that you get a sharp image in the viewfinder correctly adjusted for your sight ?
To have diopter adjustment correct for your vision you need to set it and then check periodically that it has not accidently been moved from your setting. The performance of your eyes will very throughout the day, and from day to day depending upon tiredness, if you spent a night on the tiles, etc. etc..... so for critical shots worth checking the adjustment at the beginning of a session.

I can't speak for anyone else, but to be honest,no.I haven't touched it.My eyesight is constantly changing throughout the day.Especially because I wear contact lenses and they tend to shift and move around a bit.
I never touched the diopter because IÂ rarely trust what my eyes tell me .So I figured not touching it,meant that was set at 20/20.I guess that's wrong, huh?
Thanks Richard.I wouldn't have even considered touching it until now.I will next time, though. :^)
