  • I have the same problem. Doesn't it work with the German version of P5 or P6? -

Miss Nancy ( ) posted Sun, 11 June 2006 at 2:23 PM

Sams3D had a gallows that worked. dunno if it's still on her site.

Hi Vatti and all

Which poser versions are you using that it doesn't work in?

It was set up in the English P6.

I think we did this before the days of cleaning it up for use in P4 too. I say 'I think'. So much is happening!

Hi Dark_Anvil

Thanks for answer.

I use the English Version P6.

I download the File from Randerotica.

Did you follow a link from there or was the actual file there. It may have got corrupted.

Try downloading it from the original link. Go to www.darkanvil.net and scroll down to Free models for Poser.

Please also check that you have gallows.pp2 and gallows.pmd in the runtime/library/ foilder that you placed the gallows in.

If it still does not work can you let me know if the morph dials appear.

It was set up in English P6 so it should work.

Our big new project will be in the store next week, subject to testing. Please take a look

Hi Greame
I download the Files again from your Suit. At the Parameter Dials I got this two Morphs:
Noose over Neck
Hang am Reset Noose Neck

I can change the  numbers, and  tunr the weels  but  nothing is working.

Vatti72

Sorry for my bad english.

Miss Nancy ( ) posted Thu, 22 June 2006 at 11:28 PM

graeme, I looked at the pp2 file involved, and there are several occurrences of this line: textureMap "C:Documents and SettingsAdministratorMy DocumentsGraemes solidworkswargameGallowsMapgallows_fase.jpg" in addition, you are switching between using spaces and underscores in various reference lines (e.g. Dark Anvil vs. Dark_Anvil), hence I'd recommend editing the file to make sure it will work on a remote computer not connected to your c drive. however, I dunno why the morphs don't work, unless it's due to some bad reference lines, or maybe trying to use it in something other than P6.

I think this is something I deleted immediately because of the readme.

Hi All

Vatti, sound like you have it working now?

Miss Nancy, this is an older item, i.e. done by me! People who are more knowledgeable on poser are envolved now. Hopefully you'll see an improvement all round. We will re-poserize the gallows and post here when the update freebie is available. It is free, but I don't like to think of folk having problems.

Phantast, what was wrong with the readme. Again this is a free product but it does follow the format of our paid products so I'm interested to know.

Regards

Graeme

Khai ( ) posted Wed, 28 June 2006 at 1:38 PM

looks like the problem was the 'No commerical usage' clause.. a lot of ppl don't like that so they delete the item...

mrsparky ( ) posted Wed, 28 June 2006 at 4:27 PM

Good news for those having problems stringing up their poser baddies.

Vanishing Point in association with Dark Anvil are converting ALL the Dark Anvil products to be Poser 4, Pro Pack, 5 and 6 ready.

I have nearly all the products converted to this 'format' and will be working on the freebie in the next few days. A message will be posted here when the fix is done  and when the file is ready for download.

Please be patient, I've only got 48 hours in one of my days and the missus is saying something about going to 'bed' what ever that is :)

Aahhh.. that clears up at least one trivial thing for me...

mrsparky is a "Mr. Sparky", not a "Mrs. Parky"

(A fact which will dribble out of my mind rather quickly, due to my excellent forgettory)

Best of luck with the project, anyway:-))

Cheers,
Diolma

Indeed a Mr. Sparky. After my old cat :)

Hi Graeme, hi all

Sorry , no I have  not a Result. But I think I do it with C4D.
I buy Interposer, so it´s verry easy to Import Animations from Poser to C4D.

The texture paths are easy enough to fix, 2 minute job. PMD files are the thing. These are what makes this model P6 only.

So some questions for the morph experts.

I notice Binary Morph Converter in the store here can insert external P6 morphs back into a figure. Then I assume once the version number is set there'll be no problems using this in eariler versions. Correct ?

However I'm kinda not that keen to spend $22 on something to repair just one freebie. So anything free and texture artist proof than do the job here ?

I do have the excellent "Tool Collection for Poser" by 3dDimension maybe thats something I can use.

Any thoughts anyone ?

Phantast ( ) posted Fri, 30 June 2006 at 5:05 AM

Khai is correct.

When I do a picture, I don't know where it will end up. If people presume to tell me what I can and can't do with my pictures, it's best to stay away from their work.

mrsparky ( ) posted Fri, 30 June 2006 at 5:19 AM

Instead of 'complaining'  - has anyone actually asked Dark Anvil nicely if he's willing to change the licence to make this freebie item useable in commerical work ?

Phantast ( ) posted Fri, 30 June 2006 at 10:05 AM

I'm not complaining, I'm explaining. I've plenty of other stuff to use. It's entirely up to Dark Anvil what he wants to do and I don't mind one way or the other.

Miss Nancy ( ) posted Fri, 30 June 2006 at 1:41 PM

give graeme a percentage of sales on commercial items using the gallows, and I reckon he'll be happy to allow commercial use. otherwise he may as well sell the gallows, instead of giving it away.

I think you may be missing the point here. We are not talking about building some model that uses Dark Anvil's prop and then selling it - that would obviously be breach of copyright unless some agreement between the modeler and DA existed. The issue is what happens to renders in which the item happens to feature. As I understand it, DA (and a number of other modelers) don't want any render that features their model to be used in any paid-for way. This to me seems totally irrational, but I'm prepared to respect their wishes.

Of course he could sell his model. And I could sell any of the models I have put up as freebies. I don't sell them because I like to share them. It gives me pleasure if anyone uses them. That's sufficient for me.

mrsparky ( ) posted Fri, 30 June 2006 at 7:13 PM

Actually Phansat I agree with you here. Not about the DA model, but about licence restrictions in general.  I'm happy to respect them best as I can, even if they may seem 'odd'.

Some have been strange, even in the commercal products.  One I've got (can't remember which one) I recall it's a military one says you can't use it in any images that glorifys war!

Also truth be told, depsite what's said here. If you offered Joe Artist a few hundred $$$'s  to buy a picture for use in a advertising campaign, and that featured a non-commerical model, he'd mostly likely sell.

going back the the subject - does anyone want to test the revised gallows prop ? If  so please IM.

mrsparky ( ) posted Sat, 01 July 2006 at 3:59 AM

The gallows has passed testing. Now works in Poser 4/PP/etc.

Dark Anvil has been sent a download link to the file so this should be  avaliable shortly.

Thanks to EDW for the fixing tip...which is here for anyone who encounters this problem.

'Just open Poser 6 and go your preferences and make sure "Use Binary Morphs" or whatever it's called is turned off. The reference is still in the cr2 so load the cr2 and save it back to the library...'

'[To make it work for poser 4]. You'll just have to fix the version number and check the file references to make sure they use ":" instead "". The morphs should be in the cr2.'

Does this mean it'll work in DAZ|Studio now? Anything with these P6 external morphs is also a no-no in DAZ|Studio.

It should work now.

Hi Again

MrSaparky's redone P4/P6 Gallows is on the server now at
www.mdmltd.co.uk/Free_models/Dark_Anvil_Gallows.zip

We are a commercial organisation at heart and I just wanted the gallows to be a fun freebie for people to play with and see what we are about, so didn't tick the commercial box.

Dark Anvil is much more than one person. So far it includes 8 people, all specialist in some field, from far up the Northern Hemisphere, right down to Aus. A truly global effort.

We do aim to keep prices down on the items for paid download that can be used in commercial renders.

Have Fun, unless you're English of course, as we just lost in the World Cup...on penalties...again! Grrr

Graeme (the least talented of the 8!)
