I wanted to let those who have all or parts of my Songbird ReMix collection that I have revised many of the collections; enhancing and updating them for Songbird ReMix2. The crested birds like the BlueJay and Cardinal now have Transmapped Crests and I've added Poser6 and DAZStudio enhanced materials. Most updates include new free birds such as the Mountain Chickadee as part of the Original SBRM/SBRM upgrade Package.

Other packages like "SBRM Characters" have a Free Phainopepla and Tri-colored Blackbird.

For owners of "Threatened-Endangered-Extinct" you'll notice huge changes via SBRM2 with the Passenger Pigeon and Carolina Parakeet...

You'll find all the updated files at:  http://www.empken.com/SongbirdReMix/sbremixdl.html

For those who don't have the SBRM series... I've arranged with DAZ to put the Original SBRM/SBRMUpgrade on sale as well as my latest Songbird ReMix2

Looks nice, Ken.

I must remember to remember what it was I had to remember.

Miss Nancy ( ) posted Mon, 26 June 2006 at 1:50 PM

they have two of those (Phainopepla and Tri-colored Blackbird) southeast of here (silicon valley).

Ken _Gilliland ( ) posted Mon, 26 June 2006 at 3:42 PM

Yes,  the tri-color and bi-colored blackbirds are found only in California and mostly in the Kern County at the Audubon Kernville Preserve-- you can see the Federally endangered SW Willow Flycatcher and Yellow Cuckoo there too.  The Phainopepla summer North of their territories to escape the Sonoran desert heat so we get lots of them in the  Los Angeles area throughout the summer...  I get Mountain Chickadees in the winter but no Passenger Pigeons (they been extinct for almost 100 years).

Hello

I have bought from Daz Songbird and after Songbird Remix upgrade

Can i use your new Song bird remix2 with this songbird remix upgrade?

Thanks

Ken _Gilliland ( ) posted Mon, 26 June 2006 at 7:33 PM

Martial-

To use Songbird ReMix2  you have the original Songbird ReMix (ps_mr027b) or Songbird ReMix Update (ps_mr026b)-- That's it... and it's sounds like you have the Upgrade version. If you get SBRM2, be sure to get the new enhancements for ps_mr026b on my site

I've had some e-mails regarding Conforming Crests with SBRM2 and whether they work with DAZ Studio. In short, yes, they do.

Well, if your like me, you don't read those "readme's" and other documentation when the DAZ installer asks if you want to read them. They then get buried some where in the Runtime or Content folders and are soon forgotten.

In SBRM2 there are two .PDF files you'll find incredibly useful; the Manual and Field Guide (http://www.empken.com/tutorials/SBRM2Manual.pdf) and the Conforming Crest Quick Reference Sheets (http://www.empken.com/tutorials/SBRM2QuickRef.pdf). Now I know I roll my eyes at manuals but you'll find the Field Guide part of the manual pretty cool-- there's all sorts of information about the birds featured in the package like habitat, status, nesting habits and cool facts.

Okay... back to Conforming Crest and DAZ Studio... Okay, you've followed the directions on the QuickRef and still have problems?

The most common issue is that DAZ Studio is a little less forgiving on user error than poser is. If you apply the wrong MAT/MOR file to the conforming crest, it wipes out it's original positioning on the head. You'll have to reposition the crest correctly on the head or, BETTER, delete and reload the conforming crest and apply the correct MAT/MOR file.

In addition, I now have SBRM2 updates for most of the older packages on my website and the differences on some of the conversions is pretty amazing; for instance, the SBRM2 Lewis's Woodpecker in the SBRM Woodpeckers...

the lewis' woodpecker and the phainopepla are both found in the same small area east of here (silicon valley), on the east slope of the mountain range that includes mt. hamilton observatory.

Allo

i used  Poser 6.Today i have tried to use the enhanced SBRM2 materials .I render with artefacts(see pict) I have tried 3 models :same bad renders.Someone have an idea about it?Thanks

Ken _Gilliland ( ) posted Tue, 04 July 2006 at 7:52 PM

It looks to me like the invisible properties have become visible What's showing are the wing controllers (or what you calling "artifacts"). You'll see them in the unrendered model  as little white boxes.

You can do one of two things. In materials, make sure the "Invisible" property is inded transparent (both trans  nd trans edge settings to 1) or reapply the raven MAT ( in Poses) to the body.

A couple questions have come up on the DAZforums and provate messages so I thought I also post the Q/A here.

Q= How will you be able to tell with SBRM birds use the old SBRM and which use SBRM2?

A= If own SBRM2, dump your old SBRM .cr2 and only use the SBRM2 base .cr2 (and  SBRM2 parrot base .cr2).  They work with old SBRM characters and in many case enhance them.  In addition, there are v2 conversions available for most of the old packages at my website in the downloads.

Q= Will you just be creating packages for SBRM2 now.

A= Yes,  it has the morphs and enhancement I need to create the birds I want to create. Saying that, all new packages will probably include the SBRM2 .cr2 so the only need the original/upgrade SBRM model.

For those waiting, European Edition has been converted fore SBRM2 and I'm currently doing Africa-- then on to some new packages.
