Just substitute James where you see Jessie and you will be covered.

Hi, monkeydesign.

To use JamesCasual (and any of the P6 figures, actually, you need to do a bit of tinkering... Firstly, you need to make sure that in the preferences box, you've switched off the external morph geometry and use file compression options (listed under the misc tag). Then save out a copy of James Casual as a new figure in your library (this will create both the obj file and install the necessary morphs into him).

When you open up Mimic, you'll need to point the opening set-up page to the cr2 (figure file) you just created. All things being good, that should be all you have to do - everything else should be done for ye. If you have any problems, though, come back and ask - I've just written this from memory, so it might be a tad rusty! :)

wow- great i was starting to think there was no info or people using mimic out there (very little if you search for it so i guess its best to just ask! thanks)

i only got mimic pro yesterday so not up to speed -

do i need a .dem for the figure as well?

if i change the shape of his face will it effect the mimic?

and finaly...

i need to make a trailer/ info clip where the charicter walks up to the camera then starts to explain the product - do i just make the poser animation up to the point where he starts to talk then on frame x (the first word) drop the mimic pose file thing that has been created in mimic beforehand to get him chatting?

sorry if its a dum question but i am fairly new to both programs - i  think i will create a set of tutorials to back up my lerning as it seams that there is not many out there for mimic (found a few - might just be looking in the wrong place!)

thanks for your help guys!

The default .dmc file should stand you in good enough stead for the P6 character, although I think there might be some specific files out there - have to go and hunt for them some time...

As to your plans for the animation... Mimic will record only the facial morphs used for lip-syncing - no body movements (aside from gestures, I mean... none of the big stuff). So your best bet is to do the two parts alongside each other. Work out the full-body moves in Poser, for the entire length of the animation. Also, work on your lip-syncing in Mimic. Then save the lipsync as a pose file, and apply it to your character at the appropraite frame in Poser.

As one final note - you might find it more useful to use a third program to edit the sound properly back into the animation...  ther are some good cheap/free vide editors out there that will do this for you.

hope this helps,
