Anyone see the latest episode?

What an ending!  Daleks and Cybermen slugging it out.  Wheeee!

Can't wait for next week's episode.

Doctor Who Confidential was interesting, too.  The Torchwood spin off seems like a great idea.

Double Spoiler Content!

Who the heck is Dr. Who?  Ane what the heck is a Dalek?  And wasn't the Cyberman already played by Lee Majors?

All well, 30 years of living at the eastern end of the Meditterean has probably narrowed my perspective.

Cybermen v The Daleks... I can remember being about 8 or 9 and arguing in the playground about who would win (Daleks of course!).

Yeah, Daleks are seriously hard bastards.  Paranoid, xenophobic and murderous.  Probably the ultimate tin nazis.

I'd like to see a 3 way battle between Daleks, Cybermen and Mechanoids.  You could even throw in the Zarbi as cannon fodder.

The 2006 episodes haven't begun here in Australia, though they are airing the 'Doctor Who Coming Soon' clips on the ABC.
Having said that, I watched Fear Her yesterday and am impatiently awaiting Army of Ghosts to be available :)

I haven't been disappointed yet - I'm quite easy to please as a viewer  :D

That was a great episode last night! I'm really looking forward to Torchwood now. Although my little lad is disappointed that it was described last night as "for adults", heheh.

I couldn't understand why the Doctor didn't know of Torchwood, seeing as Torchwood was used on the PM's order to destroy the aliens he had defeated in a duel after regenerating into his present form.

Khai ( ) posted Sun, 02 July 2006 at 1:36 PM

he was actually out of earshot when the PM said it ;)

raven ( ) posted Sun, 02 July 2006 at 1:46 PM

I'll blame him forgetting the whole 'we got Torchwood for when you weren't around' conversation on him still being fragile from regenerating and having selective amnesia! :)

AntoniaTiger ( ) posted Sun, 02 July 2006 at 1:54 PM

Apparently, CBC has a financial interest in the current Doctor Who and Torchwood, so a Canadian showing is pretty well guaranteed. It's an ingenious solution to the problem of getting an instrument platform next to a spacial anomaly 600 feet above your capital city. OK, ao how long before before we get the net style Cybermen for Poser?

Khai ( ) posted Sun, 02 July 2006 at 2:13 PM

CBC will be showing Dr Who 2006 on October 9th (confirmed)
no announcement as yet on Torchwood.

also : Doctor Who 2005 has been sold to Japan!
no announcement as yet on 2006 being shown in the US...

Andi3d ( ) posted Mon, 03 July 2006 at 1:05 PM

well, damn, one of the drawbacks of being in Sweden for the last 2 ½ years....no Dr Who AT ALL

oh well, i can content myself with the more relaxed attitudes to everything, an example of which is this commercial that was airing on swedish tv in the run up to the England-Sweden match....and this was airing as early as 4pm in the afternoon....warning, contains a little strong language...

I'm enjoying Doctor Who so much more now I'm going through my..erm.. second childhood lol

My 10 yr old, however, is absolutely gutted at the impending departure of Billie Piper. His first crush... bless......

bigtim ( ) posted Wed, 05 July 2006 at 12:49 PM

Billie's fit, all right, but I'll take Kate from Lost (assuming I get a choice!). Billie will be back, probably in a show of her own, and soon.

spedler ( ) posted Wed, 05 July 2006 at 1:42 PM

They have announced Piper's replacement now. See http://www0.bbc.co.uk/doctorwho/news/cult/news/drwho/2006/07/05/33449.shtml

If you've seen the latest show, she was in it (but not playing the same character, obviously, because she is killed partway through!).

I've been watching bits of episodes on sci-fi channel. they look intriguing, given they're not as humourless and brutal as the earlier cheapo versions, nor as brutal as quatermass, blake's seven and antediluvian stuff like that. however, it doesn't portend well for dr.who that they're showing it on the sci-fi channel, whose top-rated show is something called "ecw wrestling", which is targetted to the vilest sort of chavs in existence  does this mean that the sci-fi channel thinks the same demographic group are fans of both dr.who and ecw? if they're correct, it may mean a savage dumbing-down of dr.who, with concomitant T&A for the neanderthal set.

Khai ( ) posted Wed, 05 July 2006 at 3:23 PM

well considering that SCF only buy it and have no say at all in it's making... it won't have any effect at all...

DarkStarBurning ( ) posted Thu, 06 July 2006 at 12:29 AM

goes misty-eyed at Blake's Seven

Attached Link: "Moonbase/Tomb..." style Cyberman Helmet prop

> Quote - OK, ao how long before before we get the net style Cybermen for Poser?

I can't offer the RotC style Cyberman, but will an early Troughton era version do?

I puttered this together when a fan upon the DAZ boards observed there existed no Cyberman Poser items.  The zip file contains a .PP2 prop with thumbnail and a set of 5 texture and bump maps to recreate either the "Moonbase" and "Tomb..." style cybermen or the ones featured in the "Wheel in Space".

You can see a comparison render below.

The helmet is scaled and positioned to fit the Poser 4 nude male (aka "Dork"). Minor tweaks will be needed to fit other figures. Yes, the ears poke through, but it's a "given" the base figure's head will be made invisible..

I hope to model the (in)famous chest apparatus, endearingly called the "accordian" by fans.

Have fun!

Sincerely,

Bill
