Subject: Serious Poser Problems (New Computer)

schtumpy ( ) posted Wed, 12 July 2006 at 10:50 AM · edited Sat, 11 January 2025 at 10:06 AM

Ok, I just got a new computer and finally got Poser 4 and 6 and my runtimes onto it.  But, when I open P6 I get this error

"Traceback (most recent call last):
  File "", line 3, in ?
poser.error: No string resource exists for the major, minor id specified"

But, I open everything and everything seems to be okay.  I load up some figures with custom textures just to make sure everything is where it should be, no problem.

The error comes when I try to go to the material room and change a texture map.  Nothing happens.  The texture manager is totally unresponsive.  Has anyone else experienced this issue, and if so is there a work around or something I can do to make it work?

My humblest thanks,

schtumpy

Try reinstalling Poser 6 on the new computer and then just link to your old runtimes.

I just got a new computer as well and though I didn't have any problems running Poser form the external (and thus moveable) harddisk I have for Poser, I still installed Poser 6 to get the fileasociations and whatnot right.

And THEN I linked to my trusty old Poser Pro Pack runtime LOL

You just can't put the words "Poserites" and "happy" in the same sentence - didn't you know that? LaurieA
Using Poser since 2002. Currently at Version 11.1 - Win 10.

Did you link your runtimes or copy them? It sounds like the languages.xml file got corrupted, if you copied runtimes it might have happened that you overwrote P6's languages.xml with the P5 version.
