Subject: Favorite artist addition

There's something I've noticed before, but never bothered about , it happens  when someone adds you to their "favorite artists list".    Its a nice surprise when you find that someone has does this. But what I've noticed though ...(and this might just be my paranoia).... is that when I take a look at that members homepage  (after receiving the notification) its often blank, no posts, ..., an empty homepage, no other favorites....nothing.  Now this could be someone who just enjoys looking about the galleries and hasn't yet added anything to their own homepage. Perhaps its my imagination but it seems to have happened to me more often than I'd though it might.  Are there lots of members with empty homepages, or is there something else going on?  Has anyone else noticed this? If anyone's added me to your homepage in good faith please accept my appology for doubting like this but it has happened pretty often. Please understand this is not a complaint...just curious as to why this might be?

I havent noticed this, but I guess it could be that the homepages are newly converted over and not everyone has had time to fix them up yet?

Is this happening everytime, or just randomly?

I have a sis who is a member for one reason only...to see art and to see my images.  She has no homepage info and no gallery.  She is not a lurker by any means but an appreciative person of the arts.  I will tell her about images in various medias which might be of interest an she will take a look. For her, this is a good thing.

Sure, there are some who go for lurking.  I imagine as well some with no homepage are here for higher reasons, as is my sis.   Good post, btw.

As for favorite artists, no knowledge of how that would be shown.  I would think it would show even if there is no homepage info...then again, we are asked to "create" our homepage..soo...?

Same as me....I have not noticed this yet, but you could always send me the link you got in an ebot by messaging or my email , and I could see if  I experience the same thing.

LOL.

Wouldn't know. I've only had a couple of people add me as a favorite artist in the years I've been at Renderosity.

My lack of talent and subsequent lack of empiracal data aside, even my home page was blank for a while during the switch-over, and I created my home page about three years ago, I think. I fixed it, and, later, I found half of what I'd already written tacked  on to the newer version. Weird. Anyway, I'm sure there are quite a few empty home pages for other reasons. I just know for a fact that, in the last several weeks, things have been a bit odd during the changeover.

I also have had that happen to me as well...

Doug and waldomac... I went to your profiles and it also says that you have people that have nothing in their galleries..  and I have some too..

But it really is strange when someone adds you and there is no information. I figured it was just people who just go through the galleries but don't post..

Doug I think I got one recently as well.. I'll send you the info..

I just was added recently by someone with no gallery, etc...,but they had other artists added to their favorites besides me.I just assumed they were at RR strictly for viewing,at least at present time.

But yes,I have also been added by people, and been their only favorite and their page is blank...and I must admit to have felt slightly curious about that.

I guess the best thing to do is check back a few days later.Maybe you just happened to be the first one added and there were subsequent additions.

Who knows?  :^/

I have a homepage that is not blank, but, that is because my daughter told me to fill it out. I believe alot of new members who have heard about RR do not know about filling out the home pages. I first came here to look at the different concepts of the arts and even though I have posted photos on here I still feel like I am not good enough to post here. Some of the newbies may feel that they are not good enough to be a true member of RR. I hope that they will read this forum, feel more comfortable and fill out their  home page.

Thanks for all your thoughts. It happened to me again today but this time there was a sizeable list of other "Favourite artists"...not just me, which is reasuring. Karen,  what you say is totally logical and most probably the main reason. I have a friend who I managed to talk into signing  up here, but as yet has still to post anything, she's worried of not being good enough etc.  Shame because more often than not a few positive comments is enough to encourage you to post some more.....and before long your hooked!
