Subject: V3 SAE obj import into Blender 2.42 RC 3 Off center?

CDI ( ) posted Fri, 14 July 2006 at 11:52 PM · edited Wed, 14 August 2024 at 2:34 AM

Hello folks,

Im attempting to get V3 SAE into the Blender version listed above and I just noticed that once import the figure is not quite centered.

The actual object center is at the origin (0,0,0) but the figure itself in relation to the center point isnt.
Ive used the Poser Joint Editor to zero the figure as usual as well.

Now this manniquin is a heavily morphed one....but I didnt think that would cause the change in centering.

Ive imported Miki also and she centers corrrectly.

So...is this because of the morphing and if so is there a way to fix it aside from un morphing the figure?

I appreciate any help on this.

Did you check the "As Morph Target (no world transformations)" box when exporting from Poser ?

If your meaning that the center line of the meshes isn't quite aligned with x = 0, then this will be due to a slight imbalance in the morphs.
If it's a small rotation, then you didn't use the option mentioned above.

Some screenshots would help.

Hiya,

Sorry it took so long to get back to this.

I double checked V3 after remembering older versions of her had some strange offsets in the translations dials. Well SAE inherited them. :-( So I zero those and she imported perfectly.

This isnt V3 but its a rough draft of the clothing Im making for her. Probably one of my more successfull modeling attempts. I think Im getting the hang of using Blender to model finally.
