Now that I have your attention, I’m looking for an animal figure for Poser 5.

A cocker spaniel, fully grown or puppy (doesn’t matter).

Could you let me know if you've seen or come across this type of figure?

Content Advisory! This message contains nudity, profanity, violence

The first place to look is DAZ's Mil Dog, but I don't think it has many of the longhair breeds (and if it did, they would be a mess, witness the "tail" on the husky), and it focusses of "real man" dogs not girlie dogs (I'm just the messenger). You know, the kind soft-bellied TV stars use to convince themselves they are tough adventurer persons who take no prisoners mostly.

A second possibility is Lyne's Creations, but I doubt if she has anything useful in that regard. The trouble is, Poser is less than ideal for long-haired animals. Covering a dog with dynamic hair is beyond most computer's resources.

Sorry about the delayed response, But I’ve been thinking about that long straight hair issue; that’s not the look I wanted… maybe I’ll just paint curly hair in Photoshop, or maybe do a mixed medium. Photograph the dog and then import the image.

In that case, I'd go with the Mil Dog LE, scale it down and use the morphs to "make" a Cocxker Spaniel. I think the LE model is still free. If you going to cover the entire model with PS hair, then most of the flaws of the Mil Dog go away. And you can't beat free.

I took a look at the CloudLand dogs, and they worry me a bit. First off, they are pricey for what you get (meaning in terms of the market, not in terms of amount of work that went into them). Second, they require ObjAction Mover, which means there's no "out of box experience," and possibly some frustration for the marginally technical Poser newbe (dunno your level of experience there). And most important, for the price, I'd expect to see a bit more progress toward dealing with the "long hair" problem. It's off enough that it's distracting. I'd consider buying the fur tutorial that comes with the dog (but not for $30), and maybe the dogs with unusual shapes (dachshund, lion-cut poodle, pug) because the MilDog won't morph into anything that even looks crossed with them. Yeah, if I needed a Dachshund, I'd put down $30 for that and the tutorial. But I'd still feel that was a lot of money to pay for one dog morph that I was going to have to tinker with just to install.

Personally, I think I'd make my Cocker Spaniel with a Mil Dog LE and a few layers of semi-transparent cloth drapes.

"Mickmca"

I think you’ve got a valid point. “Thanks for the input”
