Subject: OT: Aussie Poser Site?

StormChild69 ( ) posted Wed, 19 July 2006 at 7:11 PM · edited Sat, 01 February 2025 at 9:28 AM

Does anyone know whether there is an Australian site I can purchase Poser items from? The exchange rate from Aussie dollars to USD is killing me, and I really want to be able to purchase things from Australia.

Anyone know?

Not to my knowledge.  But I can relate about the exchange rates!  I live in Canada and for years our rate of exchange was about 1.67%.  Our dollar has been doing better these days, but who knows how long it will last. I bought something a week ago for $20.00 USD and my credit card shows I was charged $25.00 CAD.

For $20 USD it would $26.65. I wanted to buy something from DAZ and it was going to end up being $70 Australian for $52 US.

It's awful. Maybe I should start a site myself, though I have nothing much to sell, but hey if people from OZ would join it then it could be similiar to this, where people put there own things up to sell.

I don't know, I just know I can't handle the exchange rates anymore :(

I've started using a lot more freebies.  If you search around you can find some really good quality ones out there.  Plus taking advantage of super sale prices and site memberships like Daz PC Club. It all adds up to savings.

The exchange was also a huge reason why I bought Wardrobe Wizard.  I knew it was going to be a money saver for me in the long run, and it sure has been.  I find all kinds of freebie outfits for different figures and can use them on the figures that I prefer.

How much is that and where do I find it?

Attached Link: http://www.philc.net/WardrobeWizard.htm

That is the link for it.   Also, if you scroll down that page you will find a table that lists figures that the program supports.  You can convert clothing between any of those figures. Even e-Frontier likes the program. With the last patch they made sure that Poser no longer crashed when WW was run :)

It deserves the Noble Prize for best Poser addon!!!

Also, I sent you a private message.

Its not necessarily going to be cheaper to purchase in Australia - you have to add 10% GST to the sale price, and the main market is overseas so items would be priced to take advantage of that :)

If you think daz and renderosity are expensive, go check the prices at turbosquid and you'll have more of an idea of what 3d models sell for mostly. Love esther

Hi Stormchild.  I too live in Australia in N.S.W. and I have been using Poser since Version 4.  (From P4 to P5 and now P6).

Alas, you have to buy content from the overseas Poser stores, and just hope you picked a day with a favourable exchange rate lol.  I know it becomes expensive but it our hobby and interest, so we have to.  There are many good Australian merchants in the stores also, but they all sell in the Poser stores and do not have an outlet in Australia that I know of.

You did not state what version of Poser you are using or are you using the free DAZ Studio. Jan

Im from South Africa.... the exchange rate from Rand to USD is 7 to 1 on average... So a purchase costs me seven times the advertised price, and believe me the ratio is not relative... I dont earn seven times the salary of an American citized...try that on for size.... heh heh :)

Geez!  I'd have to take up a second job in order to feed my hobby, like oh..... bank robbery!  LOL

Exchange rates sure take their toll :(

Well...if the exchange rates ever become too much to take you can always emigrate, right ? (and then you've got another set of problems)

Is that an offer to become my sponsor?  Seen as though that is the only way to get out of SA, by immigrating...
