Subject: Apollo's girlfriend? Where is new Poser female figure? Poser 7?

operaguy ( ) posted Sun, 23 July 2006 at 4:18 PM · edited Fri, 22 November 2024 at 7:55 PM

Hi all, I have not posted in many many months but I still check in now and then.

Last time I was posting regularly, it was heavily rumored there would be a new Poser female figure with either new rigging that would solve upper arm and shoulder problems, or at least be the 'female version of Apollo Maximus.'

Whatever happened to that??

Is Poser 7 immanent with this female on board?

I YI  YI YI YI.

Well I went through about 10 pages of that thing. What a mess. I have no energy for such wars.

I am just hoping to find a new, great female character for Poser that solves the bending/arm/shoulder issues.

You'll be waiting a LONG time, like forever.  Anton doesn't visit poser sites anymore, nor have anything to do with poser.  I'm lucky enough to be a friend of Anton's, he certainly won't divulge anything about what he is doing with the poser community.  Why let people rip him off again.

I´m here in the thread by pure chance, but I want to say to MachineClaw that it´s a great pity that Anton has left his Poser-Fans as from my point of view he has created the best Poser-Figure with Apollo and I regret that it isn´t possible to buy this figure anymore. Till now I had the hope that Anton will come back and I´m sad to hear that he doesn´t planed it. What a bummer!

well, anyway, machine, tell him we're interested hearing about in his new model. here or wherever he wants to talk about it.

Yea well, Gloria aint exactly pretty to me either! 😉 I had hoped that Clarks mouth stuff would be worked out and fixed but it's not so far and it seems he's slowly beginning to fade out already, just as well but I'm a bit surprised by the amount of support for Gloria so far, asstounding actually (imo). Her joints are not all that great, her knees look strange, her ankles and feet taper into unrealistic proprotions & while real womens hips and breasts MAY be wider and hang lower she just doesn't look right dressed in anything other than skin tight clothes. While Trekkie did wonders with the face morphs her mouth is still strange to me when opened up. I wrote and asked Shahara for a fix for Clark and Gloria, more Clark than she and he just said he would look into it. Not heard a word nor seen any indication that this will happen. I don't like wasting my money and I feel I have!! While I will buy his textures, as he really good at that, I don't like releases like this that seem unfinished or a bit too raw. How is one supposed to interprete his style of modeling in order to open up the mouth as it should be opened? He says that Clarks mouth in tests opened up fine, the images I sent his way say otherwise and he even admitted that it was not right. So, from my past purchases from Netherworks at least I know that Joe puts his money where is mouth is and she will be a good figure. I asked for a shot or two of her morphed realistically as possible. If she looks good then he's got another sale, if not then I will pass. Regardless though, I've never been dissapointed by his work so I know this was well done and look forward to those renders! 😄 Richard ;-)~

I'm not privy to any secret knowledge regarding Anton, but I think for the time being at least, he's abandoned Poser entirely. You can still get a limited AM by purchasing Denise Tyler's excellent Poser book. Meantime, the wait is on for the G2 women, promised updates to Jessi and Miki that are supposed to solve the joint problems and remap the figures so they can share textures. This, of course, means there's a good chance that none of the old Jessi/Miki stuff will work with them. If it's not one damn thing....

the netherworks girl is interesting IMVHO has a different look than the others (girl, sara, aiko, animedoll, etc. ad infinitum) however, the changes needed to provide P7 with well-jointed figures and to upgrade the render section are like heaping pelion upon ossa IMVHO if folks are having RAM problems just using existing poser figures and minimal render settings, what will it be like if everything is brought up to 2007 standards?

jefsview ( ) posted Mon, 24 July 2006 at 2:19 PM

E-F's new G2 figures are supposed to be released this month, at least the new males are. James 2, Koji 2, and Kelvin. With Miki, TY, and a new female coming sometime thereafter. The folks at Content paradise teased us with the release in July, but by looking at the calendar, you can see that THAT probably won't happen this week.

When they do release them, I'm certain that folks will report very quickly about the joints, since that's been a huge problem with the P6 versions.

As for Anton... we can all hope that one day he will return and bring some goodies with him.

I'm sure they will eventually but I better get them before my subscription runs out or I will not be a happy camper. If it does and it's been promised then I hope they honor that promise! I like Miki and I like James and if they can be improved and made more usable then I will be more than happy to spend the money. If not then sae la' vie(sp?)

Why do people always need new figures? There are so many already, do we really need more?

I only do own a few figures, besides what came with Poser 4/5/6, I only own M1/V1, M2/V2, M3RR/V3RR and the Freak. I only paid for M1/V1, the rest came with the pc club, a magazine or included in a special offer at DAZ. Why in the world would I want more figures then these? They suit me well and with this small collection I've got more then enough problems figuring out which figure suits the scene best.

Since a lot of people around here don't even use these figures ( or even Poser ) for anything serious at all, I wonder why they keep on buying new figures...... often to me the Poser community looks like a number of spoiled kids always wanting new and more toys.

A new figure comes out and everyone is excited about it and gets it. After a while (and with most figures that within a few weeks) the excitement dies and everyone starts crying for a new figure.....

Yup, that's about it. I don't 'cry' for a new doll but if one comes out and I can make some use of it then I will get it. I'm hardly spoiled as I work hard for my cash but I do enjoy this as a hobby, keeps me sane since I can no longer work with airbrush or other natural media. 2D and 3D saved my soul and me from going crazy. So I spend a little (OK, allot sometimes) on these "dolls" They do serve their purpose in my life and I love to share. I make things for them and give it all away, that makes me happy. Spoiled, no, satisfied, yup.... for the most part no regrets on most of the toys I've picked up in the last couple of years from this community!! 😄

unfortunately the current state of the poser MP and recent grey area copyright issues have driven anton away.

whether you like him or not is completely irrelevant. the fact that he was here releasing products like apollo was a huge benefit to the poser community. the more merchants/developers like him that are alienated from the community, the more the community stagnates.

anton and i never got along, but he created innovative products and was a boon to the poser community. he was indisputably a heavyweight developer and the growth of poser will suffer in his absence.

Miss Nancy ( ) posted Mon, 24 July 2006 at 7:17 PM

if machine or others can mention this to anton, it might be to his advantage to contact e-frontier with a view to receiving an advance copy of poser 7. if anton can hold his treatment by various persons here (and elsewhere) in abeyance, I daresay it could be possible to renew his relationship with e-frontier, especially if their other new female figure is a non-starter.

I hope not...... if this whole situation re-occurs, we could see a delay in the release of Poser 7. IMO, this whole situation with Anton was a ticking timebomb...... if someone jumps so many stores in the short time he did, you know something bad is about to happen. I'm not saying it's entirely his fault. But a number of us did see it coming, others just refused to see the signs. I'm hoping EF will be very carefull and choose reliable partners.

The Poser community is the most narcissistic community I have ever seen.

I have enough to do running my life without running someone elses.  You want to tell Anton what he should do?  email him.  Me I'm supportive of my friend and his decisions.

I don't even have poser installed on this computer, I just wanted to stop in this thread at let people know if they are waiting for Anton to put out a female, currently he is having nothing to do with poser, so don't wait for a female poser figure from Anton.

Have a nice day.

Much as I admire Anton's work, I can't take very seriously the idea that DAZ, R'osity, RDNA, and eF/Content Paradise singled him out for such grievous abuse that he had to withdraw from the Poser community. I don't know what the facts are, but I smell a rat. I supported him when he attacked DAZ (of course), and I was fairly supportive during most of his contre-temps with R'osity, but I was shocked when he jumped ship at RDNA with no explanation. They seemed to deserve better than that, and AM had what appeared to be a good home there. I don't know what the gripe was at CP, but certainly there was no overt mishandling of AM. I'd buy the so-called "Venus" sight unseen, on the strength of AM. But Anton has cried "Marketing Wolf!" too often to get me worked up again about his mistreatment.

None of us know all the facts about the various reasons why Anton is no longer in the community. I will repeat, though, that I am very saddened that things went down the way they did.

Anton WAS a boon to this community. And the community WILL lose out on the many innovations that he had. He has talent and is very innovative. No matter what you think of him personally, you can't take that away from him. He was ALWAYS one step ahead of the game, thinking of new and different ways to do things instead of repeating more of the same.

He may have crashed and burned in a very public way, which was a shame, but I can't fault him for standing up for what he believed was true. I can't say that anyone was right or wrong without knowing all the facts. All I can say is that the Poser community is a little less fun without him in it. Just as it would be a little less fun without Gabe, or Jim Burton, or Traveler, or Syyd, or Catherina, or PhilC, or many of the other staples in this community.

Count me among those who hopes that he comes back one of these days, but will truly respect Anton's decision if he chooses not to.

I'm so disappointed to hear the female version of AM won't become a reality...I bought AM, and he's magnificent!  I've been waiting anxiously as he had stated when AM came out that she would be likely released sometime in 2006...the sad thing here, is it is Anton's fans that will pay the price for whatever transpired with him and the various Poser sites where he marketed his products...we will pay the price and be denied his awesome creations through no fault of our own...too bad he wouldn't go solo, like Sanctum Art did...What a shame to abandon Poser, with his talent, the sky is the limit and the possibilities are endless...

Say what you mean and mean what you say.

For awhile I didn't use Apollo because I didn't want to be reminded of the unfortunate circumstances of Anton's departure. Then I used the mesh this past weekend and was reminded of its superiority. I decided that it was silly to limit myself based on regrets about forum antics and all that. Anton had more than one friend 😉 and a large number of appreciators who cared more about the craft than the personalities and private business matters. The whole thing is really sad in retrospect.

I'm sure I'm not the only person who would say "the heck with all the politics and history and resentments" if Anton chose to return to this scene. I'd buy his Poser products in a second. Even if the "bodybag" accusations were correct, there's still no male mesh for Poser that comes close to Apollo's ingenuity and quality. I think very highly of M3, Hiro, and D3, but Apollo is the Sun King. Too bad  Venus won't see the light of day.

(tap tap tap ... is this thing on?)

I've been doing more thinking about this statement ... and for a while I thought it would be best to not say anything, but then I thought I'd say something from the heart. I've been doing a LOT of reflection lately about a lot of things, because I recently lost my mother after she suffered through a very long illness. So please bear with me while I get a bit sappy.

I've been involved in the Poser community for a long while. Seen lots of people come and go. Lots of battles. Lots of rumors. Lots of politics. Lots of ugliness. But at the same time, there has been lots of comraderie. Lots of helping. Lots of assistance. Lots of generosity.

Everyone in the community can claim both good and bad in how we have dealt with people over the years. We're all guilty of having our bad days, and we can also each claim doing at least one positive thing. We've all seen our share of Poser politics ... some of us have seen more than others.

In regards to all of us here in the Poser community, the thing I love most about it is seeing how much everyone loves this program that we are all SO addicted to. I think that is one of the reasons that most of us are here. It's not about the bucks. It's not about the politics. It's not about who knows who, and who does what, and who the top merchants are. It's about loving what you do, making sure that you enjoy it, and helping others enjoy it too.

Anton's creations helped me enjoy Poser more than he probably realized. Many times over. So thanks, Anton!

That's right, most of us are addicted to Poser, but most of us aren't part of the poser community. There are far more users then people participating in the community. That's only a small core compared to the fast number of Poser users.

I'm just a Poser user, but for sure addicted. If they close down the forums here (or anywhere else) I would shed a tear. I use Poser becasue it does what I need and because of the team behind it. My experience with E-Frontier has been very pleasant and as fas as I'm concerned they're great people. That's what makes me even more loyal to Poser. With most other applications I don't have the same as with Poser, they're just tools and if there's a better tool around, I'll trade any day. But not with Poser.

As for the community, I've taken my distance from it over the last year. Perhaps it's because I'm using Poser in a different way then most and don't fit it. Also the stuff most create with Poser, doesn't interest me at all.

It's not about the bucks. It's not about the politics. It's not about who knows who, and who does what, and who the top merchants are. It's about loving what you do, making sure that you enjoy it, and helping others enjoy it too.

That may be so in your case, but that's not the general drift in the poser world..... The poser world is all about money, it is all about who you know and who sells the most. The poser world goes from hype to hype, from sale to sale and some of the tactics a number of vendors use to sell is sick at times.

I truly believe that Anton demonstrated that type of spirit for a very long time.

With this I completely disagree. You may have noticed a strong anti-Apollo movement between the lines. That wasn't because of Apollo, that was because of the way a good number of potential customers were treated by Anton. Apollo could have become big, if Anton would not have spoiled it for himself. The side and attitiude of Anton I've seen around here (and in personal dealings with him) made me decide never to buy Apollo. That's why I'm not suprised that in the end the ship sunk.

Sorry to say so, but I found my dealings with Anton very unpleasant, unlike most of the vendors I deal with. I've built up a good releationship with a number of them over the years and found them always very helpful and courtious. Can't say that of Anton at all.

Anton was always pleasant with me also - always answered my forum questions, answered my emails (sometimes took a week or so, but he always answered them), helped me with what I was trying to do - whether it involved one of his products or not. He was extremely generous with me on more than one occasion in fact..

I totally bought into Apollo; philosophy, design, functionality, versatility. Way beyond all other Poser figures I've used. I would liked to have seen him develop more (as other figures have been built upon over the years by talented and dedicated merchants and users alike), and I hate the thought that there will be no female version.

'....The poser world is all about money, it is all about who you know and who sells the most. The poser world goes from hype to hype, from sale to sale and some of the tactics a number of vendors use to sell is sick at times.'

From what I gather Anton doesn't plan to have anything more to do with Poser, and although I'd love it if he did a u-turn on this in the future, I kind of hope he does move on and away from the apparent dog-eat-dog world of content creation. You shouldn't have to be constantly engaged in a pitched battle in your working life.
