hope you don't mind me bringing this over from the funk thread.

i'll put up the first pic and i loaded there and where i'm at so far. the tip for sliding the vertices in seemed to have worked. it looks like the problem arose with the pinching because of them being too close and also because somehow i had join the top lip to the bottom one lmao.

that said i removed some poly's and virtually had to do that whole corner of the mouth again , trouble is. without the iteration set at 1 the new poly's are real sharp and have no or little curve to them. any ideas how to sort that prob out?

did a bit of work on the nose as well and the chin area. still not 100% happy but getting there i still have the ear to clean up but have'nt got a clue where to begin. it took me over a week on it to get it where it is to date (the ear)

does anyone have any idea how to get rid of the trochlight shining out of the nose.

any help will be greatly appreciated.

final question...with a lot more work and if the body satnds up, do you think it'll be good enough for the market place. you won't hurt my feelings with negative replies.....any and all feedback welcome and wanted.

You need to have all your lights shadow casting to get rid of the lit nose effect. (also make sure your mesh self shadows) Mouth is much better now. Have you made eyes yet. I make them early so I can fit the eyelid around the eye early otherwise you have nasty surprises and have to do a lot of work. The mouth is great you got the divit under the nose good. I can find some ear tuts if you want I have one I did I liked the results and use that ear for everything. I just push verticies to make it different.

that would be great dan. saying that, i think i have every tut going hehe. could do with some help on the shadow casting stuff. i basically just did the models with the settings as is. i'm gonna do the eyes after the ears. even if i have to redo em it won't be too hard. i id use an orb to get a general shape. one prob i have come up with is this. when i delete the reference side and copy the object default i can see through the new half copy when i attatch it. been here an hour trying to figure out what i did wrong.. thanks for the feedback

Well here is the tut I use for my ears. I did it in wings it is pretty adaptable to different software it is a mya tutorial. Wings has a great mirror tool I hear a lto of people who use wings curse other mirror tools when they switch. (in my case hexagon) So those problems are nto anythign I know how to help you with.

Thsi is a real nice ear tutorial. It is nto the heavy as far as polygons go either so it is quit enice nto the most detailed but you can add a few details later .

put some orbs in for the eyes. , hopefully i just have to sort thears out now and smooth the cheeks a little more to lose some of the bumps. may cut a loop on the end of the nose so it's not as blocky.

Take a look at this link. There are a lot of heads being modeled and a lot of different approaches. I think you are doing fine but take a close look here it is really an interesting competition. One of the few times I showed what I and some others were doing to my wife and she enjoyed looking. take care.

thanks for the link and sorry for taking so long replying dann.

it's a site i frequent often. just to look though...i don't  mind crit, in fact i more and in depth the better but i'd like to be able to do something worthwhile before i try and ridicule myself in a place where they have so many good models lol. i strated to post the wip in the max forum so i won't repeat it here and bore people to death with double posts. thanks again for the help and the link.

I do reccomend that site because they are a bit more helpful there and not as many people put up sort of nasty crits like some other sites. There are soem peopel who are really good there and that is sort of intimidating but it is good to know what the best are doing. Gives you a higher bar to jump over.
