Subject: Searching for Hair

Hi

In my art I like to use male models, but I've run into a problem - the same problem, more then once. I've noticed that there are very few hair models for males, or even female hair that can be used for males. I like my images to be diverse, but in the hair department this is hard, especially with short hair. I usually use hair (for my males) made for Hiro, or Kozaburo's hair. But I want something different.

I would like to know if anyone can tell me where I can find hair like in the attached image please. Short, sort of gelled/spiked loose style. Or if there aren't any hair figures/props like this maybe someone would be kind enough to spare some of their time to make one. More images will be posted below :) The image here is of Tidus from the console game Final Fantasy X, copyright Square Enix

Thanks in advance! Ilenora

Okay, here's another image of the same hair, different angle.

Have you looked through the hair packages at Daz?  I think they have something close to that style.

Also check at RDNA for their hair.  And 3D Commune.

If you like Dynamic hair,  Adorana has some great hair for men and women.

Have you tried the Anders hair over at DAZ?

I think Studio Maya might have a hairstyle close to that for free here:

Thanks everyone! Acadia, I'll take a look at the sites and see what I can find :)

Belle, thanks for the links! The Anders hair looks okay, might see about getting it.

Ramnimus, I couldn't see any hair on that page? Maybe they took it down?

So thanks for all your help, I'll have a look around and see if there's something I like ^_^

Here is the link to the download at Studio Maya.  Click "Prev" to see more hair. There is several pages.

Here is a link to some great hair.  Most is for women, but it's very ornate and I thought you might like it for some of your female creations:

Hi Acadia

Thanks for the links! I found a few nice ones, though they're for girls, at the Studio Maya site. Nothing much along the lines of what I want at RDNA, but Daz has a few good ones. I think I might get the Wedge Cut 2, it has a pretty good look to it. I like the sort of 'bangs' at the front.

Thanks for everyone's great help ^_^

I I like these two for men:

http://www.daz3d.com/shop.php?op=itemdetails&item=1580&cat=125

If you go for one of those, especially the Mihai hair, I recommend running the .obj file through a program called STOMP. It defrags the file so that it renders easier and doesn't get hung up.

STOMP

You can read more about it here and get a brief tutorial on how to use it. It's really, really easy

And if you want a really indepth look at what STOMP does and how it does it, you can read this link:

Hi Acadia

Thanks ^_^ The Manga hair from that site doesn't look like what I want... More just spikes on the head. I need a more realistic hair style. But thanks very much anyway :D The Daz hair is good, I haven't been able to have a good look at all the hair from Daz yet as I've been a bit busy.

So thanks very much for your great help, it seems you're spending a bit of time searching for what I want ^_^ very kind of you :)

That style would be quite high-poly... take a lot of render power.

I would suggest looking at Wild Hair Male by DigiCalimero - it has a lot of morphs.

I'll also second the suggestion for Anders Hair.

What you might consider is looking at combining 2 different hair props to get the effect you want. For example, load the Wild Hair Male and set the morph to get the side-pieces that you want (I haven't got the hair, but the promo shots look like there are a couple of morphs which could do this) and then add the Anders Hair on top to get the top of the head spiky bits.

Hi Karen!

Thanks! I looked at the two different styles and I see what you mean, it could work very well :D And thanks also to Acadia for giving me links to some very nice hair ^_^ Thank you everyone!

Now, someone just needs to give me $40...
