THE PLACE FOR ALL THINGS BRYCE - GOT A PROBLEM? YOU'VE COME TO THE RIGHT PLACE

Subject: OT #2 Is it just me or is does viewership seem down since the change?

Vile ( ) posted Tue, 25 July 2006 at 6:22 PM · edited Fri, 26 July 2024 at 6:37 AM

I am getting the same amount of comments on my images as I normally have but with about 1/2 the viewers. Has anyone else noticed that?

It can’t just be me I don’t suck that bad… do I? lol

I'm getting the usual 10+% of comments>hits......but the Hits have lessened since the change over.

My gallery is close to deserted. One of the reasons is that I did more character stuff. My character modeling is very unpopular. I think because it is not poser but made poly by poly. I do agree my two airplane pics since then were not that popular and they usually are very popular. My FC-1 very nice jet still has under 200 my most popular since the change. My I-16 has only 88. for airplanes that is low. For my character stuff I am happy if I get 50 views.

Partly my fault I have been trying to grow as an artist too much and not doing what is popular. I always foudn it odd that original characters are very unpopular here. If you go to CG talk or any other site is is the most popular thing there but here is ignored. Oh well I'll keep going. I do it for me and not for everyone else I do like to share.

Nah it's just summer many are off somewhere; and a lot of people are balking at the new PHP but both will pass.

Vile ( ) posted Tue, 25 July 2006 at 8:20 PM

I disagree about summer some of my most hits were in summers past july to be exact. And I think IMHO lol that my artwork is much better now then back then.

So ICM you do agree. I actually think it is some backlash to the changes either more picky at what we view or something.

So just an observation. Everyone having a nice HOT FREAKING HOT summer?

bikermouse ( ) posted Tue, 25 July 2006 at 8:44 PM

OK how about this NY was off the powergrid for eight days parts of some other big cities too ...even here in Fresno 19,000 homes were off last night  - not the summer? whatever. OK then how about the heat?

It is the heat record heatwave According  to the Yada on the local TV news about it California is gonna go off grid soon if it keeps up  We're going back and forth between stage one and stage two alerts.

To answer your question - no.  twenty pounds of lemons would go good about now as some real lemonade would really hit the spot.  of course 200 pounds would be better. It's so  hot. I could fry an egg on the hood of my neighbors car ... not that I couldn't do that normally here in summer but the heat is making me mean enough to actually do it..

Don,t do the galleries that much myself but, the forum is definately not as active and vibrant as it has been in the past. 18 mths ago 10 to 20 new posts a day was common. Just my  2 cents.

Cheers

Geez,.........I dunno what you guys are talking about,.............it's about 67 degrees here in this nice air-conditioned room I'm in. Have a nice day. Buh bye.

Dann-O ( ) posted Wed, 26 July 2006 at 12:11 AM

I think there is anotehr thing to account for this. I may be so bold as to put forth a theory. That is that many of the non poser users are moving away from this site going to other sites where there is a better appreciation for what they do. So the poser users generally just look at poser pics so if you are not a poser user you are very likley getting less views. Just a theory.

wildman2 ( ) posted Wed, 26 July 2006 at 12:53 AM

before the change , users viewing, upwards of 3000 averaged aprox 2200 when I got on
now average 1000 to 1300 when I'm on. I'd say that is a considerable drop.

"Reinstall Windows" is NOT a troubleshooting step.

Hm...I don't like the new forums as much as the old ones. As for the galleries, don't know either, haven't post anything the last 2 weeks, sat most of the time in the bombshelter. As  a matter of fact, air raid siren going now, so byeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

I think that the general body of viewers has dropped due to many having problems negotiating the new galleries.

Dann-O, it's not just you; my modeling stuff is being ignored as well..;) you think someone would at least try to cadge a freebie out of it..;) (which I'd be happy to do, if anyone asked..;)

I noticed that viewership was down too since the changeover by about half, from around 2000 to 1100. But now today as I logged on I noticed that the count was up over 2100, so maybe things are returning back to normal. As far as Bryce viewership is concerned, it does seem that there are fewer people viewing the Bryce images now that Carrara has upgraded. And to be specific some regulars like drac and drawbridge have deserted the Bryce camp. But then, at the same time, I have also noticed alot of new first timers posting to the Bryce galleries. So it seem that yes, some are leaving, but new people are taking their places. And the circle remains unbroken, and the wheel goes round and round...........

TwistedBolt ( ) posted Wed, 26 July 2006 at 6:00 PM

Don't give up Dann-O, or packled. You see, when people need a program like poser for all thier characters, they tend to get jealous of those who can actually create all thier own content.Renderosity is sorta a big joke lately on other forums.

Vile ( ) posted Wed, 26 July 2006 at 7:57 PM

Yeah but an image is an image unless they are being gallery specific (which I think sucks too). And I was going to mention about the forum population down too.

Maybe they will get a bit of hint and make some more changes for the better...

Dann-O ( ) posted Wed, 26 July 2006 at 8:14 PM

I think I tend to agree with you. Character stuff gets more views on other galleries where I post. Renderosity has become a joke. I think it might be a good idea to do like other sites and just have things by catagory like sci fi aviation character etc. and not be able to sort by software. I don't know just thinking with my fingers. I agree 2D stuff is often ignored too. I should go to the 2D gallery again there are a few artists I like there too.  I do so many drawings every day I only posted 2 2D images so far I think I took  them down on a gallery cleanup.

TwistedBolt ( ) posted Thu, 27 July 2006 at 2:28 AM

This is also one of the only sites that erases C&C if it somehow "upsets" the poster. People start to clash when half of them want to get better/improve thier atistic skills and knowledge, and the other half doesn't care because its all just a time waste to them. Guy1:Hey dudes look at me, I can do 3d, and I get like 1000 views a week...I'm an artist. Guy2:Hey, why won't you look at me...I created all my content(that took some actuall talent)....is it because I havent done a nude woman?

Incarnadine ( ) posted Thu, 27 July 2006 at 7:28 AM

In all my time here I have only asked once to have a comment removed from one of my images. It was a blatant troll. To me that sort of removal is legitimate. I think the problem comes in that people are not always aware of what makes a good constructive crit and what is a sdtatement of personal opinion in terms of likes/dislikes.

Pass no temptation lightly by, for one never knows when it may pass again!

Dann-O ( ) posted Thu, 27 July 2006 at 7:54 AM

Content Advisory! This message contains profanity

I have had one comment removed without my asking. I would actually have perferred that it be left there. It was a bit trollish but it was a valid point. I welcome criticism particularly constructive. If it is not constructive I have a fairly thick skin. I am perfectly capable of making things that are utter compleate shite. I would like someone to tell me when I do. I do weigh peoples comments I visit their gallery and things like that particularly if it is a negative comment. Better be prepared for a similar treatment but I do learn from comments. This is why I perfer some other sites. and I learn a lot from posting on them and reading them. I stay here because of the best Bryce and Wings forums on the net. (CGtalk wings forum sucks donkey.......but I like the site overall)

I used to get more upset about these things but now I know I learn  lot from it and can filter out the bad.
Twisted Bolt you are on teh money. I stay her efor a few small reasons but I have been looking outside this site. I was a moderator at a similar site but smaller. There were for the most part a poser site and I ran the modelign forum and Wings forum. What happened is that every weeek there was a image of the week and usually it was a weak poser thing. While there were much better choices to be had. Well  these people got sick of it and it becase a poser wastland with no original content. ( A couple really good car modelers did some great stuff and got the short shrift) I see this site as becomming that too.

OK maybe I should shut up now.

Hi Vile! Why not try to upload more nude female pics (photo, Poser); that would regenerate you viewing rate! :-D

Gog ( ) posted Thu, 27 July 2006 at 8:48 AM

You don't even need nude pics, just suggestive thumbnails! :)

Lol, we should all do naked vicky pics......Or SOW's with a naked vicky on top, that is the ultimate image IMHO(lol).

Vile ( ) posted Thu, 27 July 2006 at 5:54 PM

Yeah we should start the nude vicki 10,000 club and just flood the gallery with default lame nude vicki heck even in default pose and it would jack up the viewers on at least that stupid image!

Twisted stop eating babies they are not good for you try kittens...

REVOLT I SAY!

Dann-O ( ) posted Thu, 27 July 2006 at 7:40 PM

I have had text thumbs that only suggested of various lurid scenes to be had. It was enough. Often it was a play on words. I made an airplane pic of a P-47D often known as the jug. So I made a thumb with the text. 47D Jugs in Action!! that was enough.

I just happen to have a posette on a sphere over water image. What do you think, should I post it in my gallery? (It is actually an update of an old image of mine done for personal reasons)

yes, Incarnadine. Post it. I really like the water wave action you have going on. And the textures are fascinating. I think I will look into the NVOASOW theme. Sounds like it would draw some attention.
