Subject: Multiple page comments

Being on dial up,, this has really slowed my gallery time down and cut the commerodery in half..If i want to read the comments on a person with 4 pages of comments it takes me an extra 20 minutes to read and checking my own comments takes much longer also..since the change i havent been able to catch up because of this..and i am spending less time doing artwork because of this,...i dont have any options to change to anything faster were i get my service..so i was hoping that there could be an option in the future to not have this multi page time waster.Because it has made this upgrade hard to deal with..And Because my time is important to me..i was directed to up the amount of comments i can get in the forum for this but it only goes to 36,it needs to go to 136...or more...Thanks..

Thanks for the suggestion primaltruck, I will pass it on to the programmers to see if there can be an option in the future for how you would like to see comments

I agree, just recently moved to high speed internet because it was taking forever on dialup.
It's also very annoying that when i get an ebot telling me i have a comment for one of my images  with multiple pages of comments and i have to click to the next page instead of the link taking me directly there.

It is time consuming to navigate to a second or third page, to read a comment, whereas, previously, you could just view all comments at one page.

In addition, the facility to navigate to the next page is much too small and on a reasonably large image, you have to move the page around to find that number that will take you to a new page.

I really would like something done about this, if at all possible.

Thank you.

I agree. Not being able to view all the comments on one page is a total waste of time for those of us who are active contributors and commentors in the galleries. A change here would be most welcome. CC

Adding my agreement to the others. It's actually the ONLY feature I have very much disliked about the entire conversion.

Stacey...if anyone can bring about this change, I know you will. So I'll be thanking you now. grin

In hindsight, I have to say, that the speed of this site has improved dramatically and is a definite improvement.

One other little niggle though, is that when I  am looking who is on line, there are a quite a few positions, with just a time value and no screen name and also multiples of the same name, sometimes I have seen three with the same screen name.

More poignantly, there seems to be no link to the artist's gallery and also, where they're from.

I personally love to see where people originate from and the link to their home page, is a way of finding out more about the artist.

I mention this in particular, because I have been genuinely surprised at the high standard of English, in the comments from people whose first language is not English.

Thank you for starting this thread Bill.

I'd love to see all comments on the same page too. Not only would it reduce the amount of mouse clicks (a standard interaction design 'best practice') but it also would simplify the PHP code and the database queries, speeding up the site.

I'm on high speed ADSL, so bandwidth is no problem for me. Site speed is, though.

By the way, the same goes for forum posts.

:hops on the bandwagon:

Well Im not on dialup (and just imagine how horrible it is for them) but I think multiple pages for comments is redundant. When my own comments go more than one page, I dont even feel like reading them, and the same could be said for reading comments on other people's images too. Ive also had other people say to me that when you guys first added the multiple page thing, they had no idea, and they kept getting ebots for comments that mysteriously vanished. Honestly, I think it just adds confusion and more mayhem (not to mention, its gotta take more power or space on some level)

My .02 cents... for what its worth.
