Hey everyone!!!

I could use some help here. I never do any B&W´s, but today i thought i would have a go at it. And i kinda like how it turned out...but....BUUUUUT.....i don´t know if it´s any better than the colored one. So i´m basically just begging for your opinion on which one you think look best....or less awful if you will. :tt2:

Any advice on how to improve it would be happily accepted as well. 😄

So this is the B&W-version:

How come we say 'It's colder than hell outside' when isn't it realistically always colder than hell since hell is supposed to be fire and brimstone?

And now the colored one:

Or perhaps a mix between the two?

Trash them all and send your camera to me

I like the colour version best.

I like it because it is quite a busy scene and I think the colour makes some sense of it and makes it easier to look at.

B/W works well for the mountains and sky, if the town and boats were not there this would be my choice.

As always Sir Richard proves to be the greatest help of them all. LOL!  :m_tongue2:

Oh...you added another reply, LOL. I agree with what you´re saying....although i´m starting to like the mixed one more and more. Hmmm....working on another shot that i will apply that effect to instead i think. Colored version it is. Thanks buddy. 😄

I think.... I like the mix between those two. And by the way... gorgeous shot! The last one your show..is one of the best landscape shot I ever have seen you done. .......and yupp...it works for that one:)

I cannot choose between 2 and 3....I like them both a lot. But definitley it   must stay colour.
On the last  image I think it is a bit  overcast with blue. How about a bit of contrast and make it larger. Fantastic shots Andreas.

 Hi Andreas!

I like "mix between a two" and on a "lonely boat" I would make a clouds somehow a bit whiter or just brighter. I tried it on B/W it did not really suited. I agree with Kim, last shot should be in a gallery, too good not to upload it!

Your first one in B&W was totally awesome........ IMHO!!!! You know how I love B&W!!!

The color was good too, because it was sooooooo colorfull, but I still like the first one!

Now the fourth one you post.... you ougt to let us see in B&W>..... I think it's beautiful and might just give it that extra feel of solitude if in B&W or sepia tones.

The last one I can't really tell unless we see it in color too, but I think that is one that might be better in color!!!!!
All in MHO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Hugs!!!!!!!

I actually like B&W..I do some of that in Vue, and not photograhy, but it works just the same I think...sometimes B&W look more dramatic..especially landscapes.....you can even add just a 'hint' of color and bring out more dramatic effects 😄

I'm back ! ![](http://market.renderosity.com/mod/forumpro/art/emoticons/biggrin.gif)

The one with the boat I prefer B/W,  the last one same as first I think it is probably better suited to colour.

I like the combi ones. Not too fond of b/w. That only works (for me) in certain shots.

Zacko ( ) posted Sat, 05 August 2006 at 10:18 AM

Thank you all so much for all your help and your opinions. I think i´m done with them now actually.

First one became colored...with a slight hint of desaturation but not as much as in the mixed one.

Second one with the boat....will be the way it is...except i brightened the clouds a little as Tunde suggested....even though of course i love your version Richard. 😄

And the third one was the easiest one...i just scrapped that one. LOL. :tt2:

Excellent work my dear

Hi Radlafx...sorry but i still don´t know your real name, lol. I like what you did, but i think it´s a bit too rich in contrast for my taste.  Thanks for showing me though. 😄

hi andreas love your last one the most the colors is a must the red white and blue colors scream out  and are brilliant and beautiful .. color is a must on these i feel.. ( know i am late on the thred just my 2 cents ) ... it would be a shame to take out that color for me its what totally makes the compo !!

kimmers ♥ :O)

TwoPynts ( ) posted Mon, 07 August 2006 at 10:28 AM

The B&W is beautiful Andreas, but the colors are just so rich and gorgeous...a tough choice...but I'd just barely go with the color on this one, and not the in-between image. Prepping for the last DPotY category? ;^]

Oh, two more. :) The second works best in color too I think, but Richard's version ain't half bad. And I like the last one with the selective coloring in a mostly B&W scene.
