Subject: How do I create additional texture maps?

zooboy525 ( ) posted Wed, 09 August 2006 at 9:31 AM · edited Wed, 05 February 2025 at 10:03 PM

I purchased a DAZ chimp figure a while back and it has worked out great for me. I was able to get an additional texture map from Nightstar but now would like to expand my poser knowledge and learn how to create additional texture maps for the figure to give the appearance of many different distinctive chimps (variety of amount, color, etc of skin and hair).

Please let me know if anyone can provide guidance or point me in the direction of a helpful tutorial for creating texture maps for a non-human model.

Thank you!

zooboy

In poser export the model to .OBJ

Load the OBJ file into UVmapping software like  UVmapper or Lith Unwrap, and make some templates.  [There are lots of tutorials about using UVmapper - some here or any search engine will find them.]

Use these templates to make your 'character'.

The biggest artistic hurdle will be getting realistic fur/hair, maybe the hair room in P6 could help here. Failing that you can get some simple looking fur with one of the Alien Skin filters (for photoshop or paintshop pro).

Pinky - you left the lens cap of your mind on again.

You could always open the textures you already have and edit them in Photoshop.
