Subject: B6 render Speed?

Any info on B6 render Speed, compared to 5.5?

I did not see that at daz just now.

My current render Bryce 5.01 has now been going over 36 hours . ANY increase in render speeds will see me updating to B6 when it finally arrives. BTW the current render is only a prelim at default settings to check some lighting details, the final will probably take heaps longer than that.

Cheers

36 hours isn't too bad, sounds like it'll be bad when you up the settings. shall we change this to another one of those how long is your render threads :)

Hehe, I'm already stressing when I have only 6 hours left to render the clients final A2 size render :-P So bryce needs to speed up a helluva lot hahaha. Anyways, they havent been braggin bout speed increases (unlike with the 5.5 release) so my guess is that there's nothing really impressively new in that area.

Hopefully there will be some more tidbits of info after the artzone chat on August 10th (With Dan & Chris - DAZ gods)

I'll be in there, so I'll come back with any info.

Speedy renders would be a sure fire purchase point for me.

Would love to hear some of that chat myself.

And yeah, we can put neato sigs on now.

Omac2, multi-processor support was one of the already mentioned features :) i think that did include dual-cores also.

They said the render engine in bryce 6 is pretty much the same, but dualcore and hyperthread users will get speed-ups.However, bryce 7 or 8 will have the carrara render tech under the hood, as they want to bring all the coding of there apps closer together.

In a few days the chat that talks about B6 will be archived at artzone, here's a link. Pretty much what twistedbolt just said.

I think at one point they had 250 questions in que, they only ansewerd a fraction of those, but mine was one they answered. I'm Digital Daydreams over there. They gave all a free B5 for showing up.
Cool, and $5.00 voucher

Wasn't looking good for speed increase in B6 for standard processor.

I missed the part about dualcore processors being able to be used right, but if that's true
I may get 6 because I have a 4400+ X2 dual core.

Ray, I know what you mean, This weekend I take delivery of a 2 x Opteron 280 system, just for my 3d work. Salivating already!

Pass no temptation lightly by, for one never knows when it may pass again!

Reviewed my Motherboard at the Gigabyte website, and it seems I could now stick up to a Athlon 64x2 4800+ in it, which would mean a flat 20% increase in my current cpu speed, in addition to having a 2nd core on top of that! (all compared to my single 2.0 Ghz core I have now)

About a $300 upgrade, but that would be very worth it for rendering speed.  What with a slightly faster cpu...and a 2nd cpu helping out...I would speed up all my render times by half.

Cut your render time by half, or halve your render time?

AgentSmith ( ) posted Sat, 26 August 2006 at 4:31 AM

Tomato, Tomahto, lol.

Either way, an "overnight" render would only take 4 hours? I'll take that any day. (or night)

Heck, along with my main pc here, I now have two other desktop pc's and a laptop. Network all that together and get another 25%-50%.
