Subject: newbie needs v3 help

Hi, I need to ask a question about V3. What the hell is it? This may be a stupid question, but I keep seeing models and textures for V3 and I cannot find any info on what it is. Will these models and textures work in poser as is? Or do you need a seperate plug-in/program?

V3, actaully V3 SAE, is the current Daz female figure. The base model is free, from Daz, but it is highly advisable to get the head and body morph packages. It is primarily a Poser figure. Yes, they work in Poser.

I must remember to remember what it was I had to remember.

V3 stands for Victoria 3. It's the 3rd Victoria that they've put out. It does work with Poser 6 :)

V3 Base is free at Daz3D right now

But if you want to change the look of her face and body, or use any of the available character addon packages, you need to buy the head and body morphs.

The head and body morphs are here:

Also, Michael 3, is available free right now too at Daz3D. Again, like Vicky, you need the head and body morphs to change the shape of his head and body. Those can be found here:

http://www.daz3d.com/shop.php?op=itemdetails&item=3009

If you have both figures, you can get both of their head and body morphs in one package, here:

I am a newbie & also purchased V3 & M3 with the head & body morphs.  I have Poser Artist, which I guess is really Poser 4, and I believe I have properly installed the service release 3.  DAZ/3D says they (V3 & M3 morphs) are compatible with Poser 4.03.

I cannot get any of the morphs to work.  When I try to INJ one, I get an error that says "can't open xxx.pz2"  When I try to import the morph, .pz2 is not listed as a possible file type.  I've also purchased some other misc stuff that I also can't use because they're .pz2 files.

HELP!

If you are getting the "can't open xxx.pz2" look and see that the !Daz folder is located..Runtime>libraries>!Daz. In some cases before you can use some of your misc stuff you have to inject V3's morphs first, or M3. A pz2 extension is the standard pose file. Make sure you have the figure selected before applying the pose.

I must remember to remember what it was I had to remember.

I have encountered this problem on one or two occassions and it was related to the fact that some INJ poses reference the actual pose injection for the morph.  I of course had moved all the pz2s for the morphs into one big folder so it couldn't find them.  Deleting my .pz2 files and reinstalling them and leaving well alone allowed everything to work fine for me.

Thanx for the responses.

The !DAZ folder is indeed in the libraries folder & I did not combine them into one big file.  I get a good colored prompt for the INJ, not the grey shrugging figure, so I think Poser can find the files.  I'm pretty sure I remembered to select the figure first before trying the INJ.  So I'm confused.  If I do, say an ear INJ, do I have to select an ear or will the whole body of the figure be OK?

If .pz2 is the standard pose file extension, why can't I find it in the import menu?

nickedshield ( ) posted Fri, 11 August 2006 at 2:05 PM

You do not import pz2's, they are accessed from the pose library. Bad news..just because you have an icon in the pose library that doesn't necessairly mean Poser knows where the file is, only that you have, good rsr or PNG image, depending on what version of Poser. Here is a snippet from an eye inj pose for V3 readScript ":Runtime:Libraries:!DAZ:Victoria3:Head:Deltas:InjDeltas.EyeCornerBk.pz2" Note, it's all on one line. Open one of you pose files in a text editor and compare the readScript line. The path to the !daz has to match. Normally if I'm injecting a head morph I'll select the head. Just being safe. Valerian70..I too have run across an inj file that was pathed wrong. they are fun trying to correct.

I must remember to remember what it was I had to remember.
