I guess this is the right forum for this.

Here it is, the first issue of Poseability, The independent Poser and Poser aftermarket content magazine.   D/l it, save it to your desktop, just please don't d/l more than once. Let me know how you like it.  Pass on the file if you like it and know others who will as well.

Suggestion: Use the link Insert/Edit button to get active links in the message.  This forum uses HTML and not BBCode.

Addition - 404 Link eror on the URL.

I see that AwfulSouls mentions this, but still no real link to the e-zine.

mag looks good to me. a few typos, but nobody'll see 'em. all the products got 5/5 in the reviews - can't be bad 😄

Good looking e-zine. Like the artwork and layout, don't even mind the adds. Good job.

Well, Skurge me old mate, it doesn't look too bad to me. It's nicely laid out & the text is nice and easy to read. I like it.

BTW - I'm still working on the anti-gremlin retrovirus to be added to the SPAM recipe.

I think it is exciting to have this. I really do , , , but if you want some feedback I would say it would be more respected as a resource if the focus wasn't so much on the half-naked babes.

Now I know that is a big market . . . and it would be wrong to neglect it . . . but there is so much more out there in terms of prodcuts that could be featured.

Please hear that I have nothing against babes in bikinis, it is just that there is so much more that Poser can do and I would love to see that reflected somewhere for inspiration.

That is my first take on flipping through it.

I see there is a bit on Jan Duursema's new Star Wars comic using Poser as references. I think that's just wonderful. I love love loved her work on Arion. I have every issue to this day still in my collection. Wonderful visuals and great stories. My only beef with with this issue is the last page. I don't think your assessment of DAZ Studio as being a "Poser Clone" is correct. I think DAZ Studio, for me, is far better in many ways. Just because we can't use Shaders or have a seperate Cloth, Hair, Setup or Material room doesn't make it a bad choice but it certainly is not a clone of Poser either. It stands on it's own just fine. I would call it more an alternative to Poser. 😉 It's rendering engine is better and faster and with Poseworks additional plugins like pwSurface and Catch it's got more options than you can shake a stick at in the Rendering dept. You can select multiple areas in the Surface or Scene tabs and using the Ctrl key allows for selecting ONLY the areas you want selected for quicker manipulation of body parts or Surfaces. It's NOT Poser and should not be stated as a "Clone" of Poser! :bored: Other than that quibble I think that the first issue is really a nice choice for news and what not! Richard ;-)~

I don't quite see the point of listing a few products you bought, giving a couple of lines of description on each that are less informative than what you'd find on the RMP product page, and then giving everything 5/5 without further comment. Otherwise, well done - a lot of effort went into it, I can see.

I was unaware there was another Poser ezine.

Hey Ramwolf, can I quote you on that for next issue?  Write me a good letter to the editor.

When I meant clone, maybe it was the wrong choice of words, i only meant is as a simlar program.  I will let you set me straight.  I like Daz Studio better than Poser myself.  I didn't intentionally call D|S a Poser knockoff by any means.

There have been a few requests for additions which I plan on implementing in the next few issues, as well as a few things that can be improved upon  (reviews being one of them).  I wanted to do Reviews for aftermarket content, so I just picked a few of the better items I bought.  I didn't think anybody would submit anything to a guy claiming to be creating a Poser magazine if there wasn't a commitment of the magazine being published.  Next issue I hope to have reviews of stuff people have submitted themselves, and plan to re-organize that page just a little bit.

I plan to keep it way more content than ads, the low res version will always be free, I only hope to make a little off the ads to cover the bandwidth of the coming website.

Thanks for the comments so far, I think this is gonna be a fun ride.

mathman ( ) posted Wed, 16 August 2006 at 8:29 PM

Renderotica also have a Poser ezine, but in their case it is not free.

skurge1 ( ) posted Wed, 16 August 2006 at 8:40 PM

renderotica also isn't an independant Poser ezine.

Nice looking ezine for sure :)

The typos.. well... I know it's near impossible to proofread something you've typed yourself, but perhaps get someone to weed out those next time? (heaven knows I'm the master of typoneese myself, it's not a complaint, just an idea :o) )

Were the ads supposed to be clickable? They didn't work for me, and that camera one.. well, it's a nice pic of a camera but without a link or other info, it's not really... er.. usefull :)

The multi-column layout is a bit awkward on computer screens. It'd be OK on paper, but size and proportions clash with monitors. If you're not doing a dead-tree edition, it would be worth re-thinking the layout. It certainly looks worth careful reading, but I've only had time for a quick skim this morning.

Phantast ( ) posted Thu, 17 August 2006 at 4:46 AM

Sixus1 - that looks stunning!

skurge1 ( ) posted Thu, 17 August 2006 at 6:22 PM

I'm not sure if the ads were suppose to be clickable.

um, the camera can be found at jd-dch.com, then go to thecybershop.  I'll try to get out the typos next time.

Sorry about mislabeling the freebie, i'll have to fix it in the next issue and give the credit to the right person.

I bought a bunch of stuff at yer sale myself Sixus.  There are alot of cool models in your store.  I'll announce your move in my emag if you want when you get the servers swapped.

odeathoflife, I d/led issue 2 of the mag as well, it looks good.  I'll have to keep reading it.

I'm also redoing the review section.  I'm hiring a test panel that's willing to work for Spam.
