Subject: pay to read forums? are you taking the p*ss?

Content Advisory! This message contains profanity

I didn't know where else to put this so apologies if it's in the wrong place.

I just tried to get into the Content Parasite Poser forum & was redirected to an order page asking for $87 for the priviledge, are they having a joke at our expense?

Am I the only one who thinks it stinks like week dead roadkill?

Not $87, that's the average savings or something.  You actually need to pay $79.99 for the privelege.  Fortunately the Rosity forums are free (for the moment...)

well maybe" id not read the page" its not pay to read the forums... but are the forums a part of the payed membership .. and not free to all.. so what you saw was a offer to become a payed member of the site and not just 87 smackers to view the forums...

but i do think CP is squeezing out every last penny from the costumers...

That's not much of an improvement though is it?

splitting hairs, it's still partially payment for using the forums, which quite frankly stinks.

CP Passport is something like the DAZ Platinum club. $80 per year versus $8 per month, CP Passport is somewhat less expensive than Platinum Club. And the benefits are approximately the same: CP Passport items are much cheaper to CP Passport members (often free) than to non-Passport members.

And Passport members have access to the forums, non-members don't.

If you plan to do a good deal of shopping on Content Paradise, Passport is an interesting option. Don't buy Passport for the forum access, the forums aren't very active, nothing like here!

maybe they would get more users in their forums if they paid 'em to read messages. I know I'd accept payment to read 'em, even as low as $79.99

I'm not surprised that the forums at Passport aren't very active if you have to pay to visit them.
Seems a simple case of  "Take out gun. Point at foot. Pull trigger"...

Heheh. Yeah, I'll take payment to read posts too! Those forums had better be ad free and come with PLENTY of useful info, even if they are only one part of a membership.

Ah, the old days of the Spider BBS boards....

Sounds like gouging to me.

Kind of sucks big time that you buy their program (Poser) and then have to be a paying member just to read the forum (Poser) pretaining to the program you bought from them.

The forum that really disturbs me that you have to pay to access is the support forum. So you buy poser and have a problem  you have to buy a damned passport just to get help? THAT is crap!

I'm a Passport member. Got some nice deals out of it, paid its price back about twofold already.

I've checked out the forums once or twice. Activity - zilch. The few things that are mentioned in the CP forums are also discuseed here and at RDNA, in much greater depth. If it comes to Poser support, I'd put my money on 'rosity and RDNA anytime.

Does CP shoot itself in the foot by requiring Passport menbership to access the forums? Certainly. But let me repeat: Passport is like the DAZ Platinum Club - it's about the discounts. Quite a few posts in this thread seem to suggest that Passport is ONLY about accessing the CP forums.
