Those things drive me crazy since I have to use my external hard drive to switch between the Macs in the college computer lab and my PC at home, the drive gets full of the trashes and ds store files that the Mac leaves all over it

Those accompany pretty much every file transfered from Mac to PC. They can't be seen on a Mac and I don't think there's a way to strip them when you're on a Mac.
Before they made me they broke the mold!

Under Macintosh OSX .DS_Store holds the information which controls the way a folder will be opened; i.e., the shape and size of the window, the position of the window on the desktop and whether file, folder or icon view has been selected. If you were to delete the .DS_Store the folder would revert to the system default next time it is opened and a new blank .DS_Store would appear (invisibly). We have to put up with a constant stream of PC, junk files in our e-mail .DS_Store is just our little payback:-)Quote - We have to put up with a constant stream of PC, junk files in our e-mail .DS_Store is just our little payback:-)
The difference being that the email files are confined to just 1 folder, and the ds store files are spread out all over every folder on the whole drive, hardly fair sn't it?

You can do a search for them and then whipe them out. All of them. Besides: XP also has such a file when you have checked fast thumbnail preview. Or when you download something with images in. These files can become tens of megabytes fat. Like leeches.
As Poser runs on both "languages" and this is a Poser forum, it's quite childish to talk of "paying back".
