Earlier this evening, I had to shut my computer down quickly due to a thunderstorm.  After the storm passed, I plugged my computer back in and turned it on.  So far everything is ok.  I then load Poser 6, and I get a parse error; Poser takes FOREVER to load, and every other application is slowed down.  I shut down Poser and restarted.  Again, I still get the parse error.  Attached is a pic of the error.  Perhaps someone can shed some light on this.  Thanks, -Starkdog

not sure on this one - sounds like Xpert help needed, but for what it's worth, have u tried deleting the xml file from prefs and restarting Poser?  Just a thought.  Assuming you eventually get Poser up and running, you can then reset your preferences etc.

Hope this helps

Sounds like one of the XML files has become corrupt. The easiest fix may be an over the top reinstallation of Poser. That's to say reinstall Poser to the same folder without uninstalling anything.

Deleting RuntimeprefsLibraryPrefs.xml will cure this, but you'll need to relink whatever Runtimes you were using.

More important is to fix the cause.
Some directory names have characters that are special in XML, so check what you added or selected recently.

Finally what SR are you using as this problem was supposed to have been fixed ?

What if the same happens in poser 7 and reinstallation doesn't help? And there is no libraryPrefs.xml. Problem occured after installing V4 stuff. Should I install Poser 7 in a different folder and move the libraries into this new folder, untill I get this message again, so I can see, what causes that problem? I have lots of stuff in there, would take me forever, so I would be very thankful for any other help, before I have to go this step.

The question there is that the message says line 375. Thats pretty big for it to be the prefs xml file , though renaming that to check is pretty easy.

Have you got poser set to load a scene by default. ?

in my case it says line 2. I am about to reinstall everything. I have so many files, all that free stuff, not sure if I want to keep it all.

LibraryPrefs.xml is still there in Poser 7.  All of those 'prefs' type
files were moved from the Poser folder into the Documents And Settings
folder.  Look through your Docs and Settings, under Application Data,
and you'll find the Poser 7 folder with Poser.ini and the XML stuff.
(I can't give an exact path because it will vary on different computers.)

So you -should- still be able to delete or rename the XML file
and let Poser rebuild it.
