Subject: Gallery Comment e-bots just died

jwiest ( ) posted Tue, 29 August 2006 at 12:24 AM · edited Wed, 20 November 2024 at 3:36 AM

I've not been getting e-bots for Gallery comments on my images after CaperGirl42's comment on my image here: http://excalibur.renderosity.com/mod/gallery/index.php?image_id=1281144

Are others still getting their comment e-bots?

I still get them [not many though, lol] but sometimes they're a long time after the event!

Is that the only one of your images you are seeing this on?

jwiest ( ) posted Tue, 29 August 2006 at 5:06 PM

Well, they all showed up sometime between when I posted and now when I got to this e-bot (I'm a bit behind. lol)  I know sometimes they take a bit of time, but some of those took hours and hours. shrug Guess it's not a problem.  It was just really strange.

So never mind for now. :)

Hmmm that is strange. Well let me know if you have an issue with the ebots going forward.

Unicornst ( ) posted Wed, 30 August 2006 at 8:20 PM

I have a weird one for you, Stacey. (don't I always? LOL)

I sold four products at the same time today and received the ebots for two of them. Several hours later, I received the ebots for the other two. Plus, I bought a gift for my roommate earlier this afternoon and she still hasn't received the ebot for it. Good thing I could tell her to go look in her account. grin

Don't know if all the site ebots are connected as in being sent from same source, but it still strange.

Unicornst,

Hmmm I'm not sure about why that would happen either.  I'll point Clint over here maybe he can shed light on the Marketplace ebots..

The weekly newsletter was being sent out yeserday which can cause E-Mail to get a little backed up. That could expalin the delay in the 4 sales e-bots.

The gift e-bot can be many things from wrong E-Mail address registered here, spam filters, junk mail filters, ISP issues, etc....

Funny it took until today for me to receive my newsletter. Not so much a delay as an interruption on the sale ebots. Seems to me if someone buys 4 of your products at one sitting, then if you get one ebot about it, you should get all 4. But that requires logic, I guess. As for wrong email, spam, etc.... she gets all other ebots from here just fine. And there are ways that we both practice to prevent ebots from here going into spam. Plus, the spam is checked anyway.

I don't get it. People keep reporting that things are not working as they should and the people here keep answering the same old answer.  Isn't there a slight possibility that perhaps it's not on the receiving end?

Tell you what. Forget I mentioned anything. It's a small thing. If I buy another gift, I'll be sure to tell the person myself that they have a gift. As for notifications that I sold something, I'll just keep checking the vendor control room every day. Much easier on me in the long run than getting the same pat answer to a problem stated by more than one person.

Stacey, thank you. But I kind of already knew what the answer would be.

jwiest ( ) posted Thu, 31 August 2006 at 9:26 PM

Not to mention the newsletter wouldn't have been at all part of my problem.

To get none of the e-bots over a nearly 12 hour period and then have them all show up in the e-mail box the next morning seems more likely to be an issue on your end than mine since I was getting all the gallery ones still. shrug

I just got this e-mail this morning.  10:25ish or so PDT

Dear John,

This automated message is to let you know that awadissk has posted a comment and a rating on your gallery submission named "Caitlyn Wagers - Avatar (VH)".  You can view your image by going to http://www.renderosity.com/mod/gallery/index.php?image_id=1281759.

So...is there any way to look in the records or something to see if that e-mail actually left the server when it says it did or not?  Just wondering if it's a Rendo server issue or if that e-mail's been floating out in the ether of the net for almost a week.

John,

My roommate just received an ebot about a comment under one of her images that was placed there two days ago. And still has not received the one about the gift last week or the gift she received day before yesterday. You two must share the same ISP or email account that has the same spam filter catching random ebots and deleting them immediately so that you never receive them.

vikinglady ( ) posted Mon, 04 September 2006 at 12:53 PM

I have had up to 60 hours in delay for Comment ebots.

I got one from CC forums today for a posting from Mon, 28 Aug 2006 09:48:34 -0500. I hit my email box Mon, 04 Sep 2006 08:49:08 -0700, according to the full header. It seems to be getting weirder by the week.

StaceyG ( ) posted Tue, 05 September 2006 at 9:40 AM

I'll  bring this issue up today in our meeting and see if we can figure out what is going on.

jwiest ( ) posted Wed, 06 September 2006 at 10:43 AM

Thanks Stacey. :)

I know it might not even be on your end...I just don't know how to tell or even if there's a way to tell...hopefully somebody can figure it out though. :)

Okay I'm going to get with Tommy this week and we are going to track some ebots going out to see where the glitch is happening. How far it gets before it gets hung up.

I'll let you know what we find out.

Faery_Light ( ) posted Thu, 07 September 2006 at 12:53 AM

I hope it does get figured out. I'm not getting any e-bots on my favorite artists postings. I just have to keep going back and forth from my home page to see if they've posed any new images...sigh.

Let me introduce you to my multiple personalities. :)
