**Been slaving over this one for quite some time, and still loads of work to do.  Loads of details to do (apart from the fact she's minus hands at the moment.  I do my textures completely from scratch using either my own, or some 3D.SK photo refs.  Karin is currently on the production line and hopefully will be in freestuff before long.  She's a bit shy (having an incomplete body skin does nothing for a girl's morale.  Seriously, I'd welcome some feedback and help.**

thanx muchly (mwah, mwah!)

Hi Sheila,

I really like the smooth, pale, porcelin-like complexion.  I also like the way that there is a smooth transition between her lips, and the rest of the skin around her mouth.  I've seen too many "sharp" edged lips on many characters.  Keep up the awesome work. -Starkdog

(blush!) thanx Starkdog.  I'm going to add a little colour to her - then again I used 3 grey lights to give an even tone.  As I say, lots of fiddly bits to be done yet, adding more detail to the skin, de-seaming (arrgh), etc.  Anyway, onwards and .......... whatever! lol

I'd liike to see more "normal" lips. The Jolie collagen fad should fade into fantasy land. Otherwise, she has a nice solid Northern European look that I like. Maybe the eye sockets are a bit deep on the inside end?

Good work, and stick with the pale skin. In fact, a few faint blue veins would be nice. Or even freckles, tho we can add them with a shader.

I like her lips, they look like mine, and mine aren't collegen, just what God gave me. My lips are normal! I think they are great!

thanx both - as I said Karin's still WIP, and skin adjustments have yet to be made.  I think I may keep eyes and lips as per, as I quite like 'em 😉

I'm sure they are, dear. A slip of the tongue. I didn't mean to suggest the collagen look was "abnormal," just that it is becoming a bit of an exaggerated cliche. It's one of those things like enormous breasts: large breasts occur in real life, and they may be quite attractive. But they seem to occur more frequently in PoserLand, they are usually unbelievable if not physiologically impossible, and there are crowds of panting PoserBoys eager to explain that a woman's not a real woman without 'em.

Looks lovely! Ive a request for the  package: can we get an eyebrowless headmap as an optional so we can employ brow tranmaps and mat room coloring to get brows that can match any hair used in a render?

will (if I remember) put this idea in the package - when she's done.  I'm a rather slow worker as I've hand/arm/mobility problems.  I usually use the photo's eyebrows but can easily do a "bald" alternative.

I love it! Beautiful work, especially the lips.
At a glance she reminds me of Katee Sackhoff. (Kara "Starbuck" Thrace from the new Battlestar Galactica)

So, people have rallied around your lips and embraced them. Oh well.

I think she's very lovely I like her face shape and actually I  like the paler color of her skin as well, it's very soft looking. Her lips hmmm I like em as they are, and I agree it would be great if they were a bit more "normal" lol I can't decide. The eyelashes look very good, even in the smaller version I could see them wich is great. I think your doing a fabulous job of her..

my advice is to work on the eyebrows some.  they're usually the best indicator of a newbie texture.  see they way they don't really hold a shape, end early, and fall off into the eye area?   i think they would look better if they ended more distinctly above the eye, and were more "shaped".  i put that in quotation marks because i mean the natural shape people's eyebrows have, not the plucked look.

i have to agree on the lips.  those lips look at least a size larger than mine or anyone i know, and i'm black.  i also don't think i've ever seen a woman with an upper lip larger than or as large as their lower.   so even though i know you'll probably ignore this (understandably - your character, your taste), i'd suggest toning the lips down a tad and making the upper lip smaller.

i also have to suggest changing the eye shape a bit.  everyone was commenting on the head, and i kept thinking, "it looks like default v3."  but then i looked again, and thought about it without the eyes (and nose, actually), and i thought ah! that's what's giving that default/manikin feel.  if you use some of those references you have, and adjust the eyes and nose based on those, i think you could increase the realism of the character 10 fold.

the only other aspect i'd mention is details, and it looks like you'll be adding those.  i'd definitely vote for some of the veins people were mentioning.  i love the pale look, but if you want her to look real instead of airbrushed (a big if, airbrushed is popular), her skin shouldn't be uniform.  most people's faces, some areas are a bit redder, some a bit darker, some a bit paler.  and if you're going for a more real look, you'll beat out almost everyone in the market if that includes real rather than painted makeup.  i just about always use the "natural" version of textures because of how unreal and jarring the included eyemake up looks on a really detailed texture.

as everyone has said, she's already pretty, but with more detail she can be distinctive and more than just another pretty face.

thanks for the advice, cobaltdream.  I'll certainly take your suggestions on board.  As I say, comments are helpful - if given constructively - and it's all a learning process.  Karin is still very much a WIP project - loads to do before she's done and dusted so to speak.  I'd rather take a bit of time and effort and give my best than rush things.  Besides, I can't really rush as in an earlier post, I stated I have hand/arm problems, so this precludes my working quickly.  Still, I'm having lots of fun, and eventually, I hope others will when she's up in freestuff (if - lol)

regards
