Quote - Mizrael,

I bet you are just enjoying this:

by coïncidence you stumbled on it, downloaded it , spread the news around

and sat back easy and comfortable watching how 90% of Poserdom tried to ellbow it's way in on the CP site.

I would if I were in your pace.

By the way, how did the news get round? As far as I know there was no newsletter announcing it. and if there will be one it's pretty redundent now. The frontdoor is already from its hinges.

Well, in my case E-Frontier sent me an e-mail telling me about it.  I also posted a thread
letting people know, but this is the more popular thread.  I think mine got one hit
before it disappeared to the second page.

Hey. I thought I started this thread!

I'd received an email from CP, 6 hours before I posted here, telling me about the deal. I've subscribed to the CP Announcement forum. I wouldn't want to miss out on any interesting offers (Though they're not all interesting)

I was surprised nobody had already broke the news here so I did. I'm not interested myself I already have both P5 and P6, but thought some people would be interested and with only 4 days didn't want anyone to miss out

sorry about the load issues.  We've had to throttle the number of concurrent downloads of p5 to allow the rest of the site to operate.  We've had 500+ concurrent downloads at any given point since we announced it last night.

You can still "checkout" your copy of p5 and secure your copy, please try to wait to download though.  You'll be able to come back and download it at any point in the future.  Your download access never expire/timeout on cp.

If you don't want to wait you can fight for one of the 200 connection we're limiting downloads to. This doesn't affect other purchases, just P5.  Later today passport members will get a bypass on the limit.

Thanks
-Rylan

I was wondering that when I read about Poser Figure artist, to be released this month. Is it a cut down version of Poser 6. Or is it a cut down version of Poser7?

Will there be a special upgrade price for poser5 owners for that too

sandmarine ( ) posted Fri, 01 September 2006 at 3:37 PM

yups, here's what I got:

Download Limit Reached

Due the the high demand for the Poser 5 free download your download has been delayed temporarily please wait several hours before attempting to download again.

We apologize for the inconvenience however your Poser 5 free download will remain available to you through the MyStuff tab indefinitely.

so pretty much, Poser 5 is mine to hold away forever (or so I like to think).. so pretty much, I got in in time.. now I can wait until all the craze is gone and just dnload when the server gets a well deserved breather (that thing must be burning hot right now)

bigjobbie ( ) posted Fri, 01 September 2006 at 3:53 PM

Yep, the ordering process works - just need to lay off the downloads.

Interesting to see if the "Poser Figure Artist" turns out to be P7 lite (would be a great idea if they've redone the code to a great extent)

Cheers

Oh yeah - someone should probably sticky all Dr Geep's tutorials for P5 for forum visitors.

His head room etc stuff is great.

Cheers

Interesting GUI. Looks like Poser 6 Library "expanded" on the right hand side.

Then the Pose room realigned on the lefthand side.

Looks very cute doesn't it - the dials looks a tad limited with only 3 visible - maybe you can still have the floating windows...

I wanted badly to click on "edit" in the menu area of the pictures to see if it had multiple undos or not. heheh.

Cheers

I've assumed this is what the wizard looks like. The wizardless View might be a bit more familiar. Won't be too long and some one will be able to tell us.

I have tried to download P5 but it says there is too many people downloading, so my download will remain indefinately, but i should try in a couple of hours.... like a couple of hours will help...lol.... more servers please...lol...

Getting old and still making "art" without soiling myself, now that's success.

I knew doing my home work here would pay off one day!

jumpstartme2 - Sounds right, I was thinking about the same form the 4th, and late at night, or early morning.

My first/last 3D Purchases were Academic Poser 3, Bryce 3, and Ray Dream Studio 5.5, when they'd just come out, today was like Fantasy then!

CobraEye ( ) posted Sat, 02 September 2006 at 1:01 AM

this gives me a good reason not to buy anymore poser upgrades. I'll wait till they are free. Isn't poser a lot more bloated, resource hog, & slower, than DS?

Star4mation ( ) posted Sat, 02 September 2006 at 1:01 AM

So, Bryce5 last week, Poser5 this week, what we going to get next week Vue4? LOL

As a D/S user myself I'm quite looking forward to seeing how much "Better" P5 is. It will be nice to be able to use Dynamic clothing (the cloth room looks fun) but I'm not looking forward to the constant crashing during renders!! (I havn't managed to crash D/S since I tried to render hair with 100% reflections!!) A bug since fixed by DAZ.

For anyone wanting to download now ( 07;00 GMT ), FORGET IT!!! TOO SLOW (12 hrs on 1.1Mbs broadband)

Steve:)

If it ain't free, I can't afford it.

You never know; Vue 2 became a freebie after Vue 4's release, and Vue 3 (albeit a 'lite' version) after V5's release.

Vue 6 is about to come out - so maybe not next week, but I'd lay a small bet that a free Vue 4 will appear at some stage.

No but as someone said earlier in the thread, it's way less stubborn.

Poser is as easy as it gets, and then gives the Big Boys(i.e. Max, Maya, etc. a run for thier money.

I do'nt know where I'd be without it!

Then you think of all the content suited for it...

Tunesy ( ) posted Sat, 02 September 2006 at 3:01 PM

Given the choice of free P5 or free ds to work with I'd have a hard time passing up the major features in P5 that are lacking in ds.  I realize we can use both for free, but frequently time is more important than money and a secondary app that adds nothing substantial to the mix just costs more time.  I also like e-frontiers track record with software, which I can‘t say of daz.  A quarter million Shade users and a twenty year track record is significant to me, even if I'm not a Shade user.  If I have to bet on a horse then I'm betting on e-frontier and Poser 7.  P5 for free now can only help the eventual introduction of P7.
