Subject: Thumbnails wont show...why?

ScotHarvest ( ) posted Wed, 30 August 2006 at 12:23 AM · edited Fri, 29 November 2024 at 3:28 PM

I just loaded up some new mat poses  in to my poser 5 and noticed that there are no thumbnails ... not even the guy shruging his sholders. I looked in the windows folder and there they are (the png files) they show up in my windows system but not in poser. I only have 5 items in the folder so I know I did not go over the folder limit of 100.

        Anybody?

in Poser 5  you need to go and edit your   LibraryPrefs.xml  file.  At default installation this is the path you will find it:

C:Program FilesCurious LabsPoser 6Runtimeprefs

In the 4th line look for  previewNum="100"  and change the number to something higher and then save the changes.

What Acadia said, but do it when Poser is closed or the xml file won't save the changes.

Thanks... but I am no where near my 100 limit.... I only have "5" items in the folder!

Perhaps the png files are actually blank, and so they are being drawn but there's nothing to see?

Outside Poser, double click one of these png files - do you see a picture or a blank background?

Attached Link: http://www.irfanview.com

If you have irfanviewer use it to view the png. You may get an error that it is a tiff with the wrong extension. If so, irfan can convert it to a useable png. It's a free utlity get all of the plug-ins too.

there are some utilities in OS X to fix "bad pngs", but I dunno what one would use in XP.

ScotHarvest ( ) posted Wed, 30 August 2006 at 11:25 PM

I can open these "BAD" png's with photoshop and they load, view and paint like they are ok... I even tried to save on with PS to see if it would fix the problem.. still no...RATS!

sometimes this works:  if you have P3DO, convert the pngs to rsr, then convert those rsrs back to png, lettting it overwrite the originals.

Well.. I opened up one of the "mystery" PNG's with photoshop and it displays just fine,

so I altered the hue 1 point and RE-saved over the old and took a look in poser to see if

it showed this time. Still NOTHING! Double RATS!

One question I didn't see anyone ask: In your pose folder how deep is the mat folder you can't see the png's? I know P6 can stack, P4/pp can't and I'm not sure whether P5 can or can't.

I must remember to remember what it was I had to remember.

Open the offending PNGs in Photoshop - make sure you have the layer window open and check if the  PNG displays as background or Layer0. If it displays as background then this is the reason why it won't show up in Poser.

To fix this problem: go to Layer - new layer from background and resave the PNG. It should now show up in Poser.

I had this problem when I switched from Daz Studio to Poser6. I use a Mac, and in D/S I didn't need to convert anything with MacConverter, and the thumbnails showed up fine. However, when I moved to P6, I was flummoxed as to why the thumbnails didn't show up, till I learned that i had to use MacConverter. But it sounds like you're using Windows, so that info probably doesn't help. AWARD: "Most useless post on this thread" =P hehe

I had that prob in Poser Pro. It was the file name. If the file nmaes are too long, the files won't show. But if the Pz2 is there okay, it might be a size issue. If they somehow got sized over 91X91 pixels, they won't show.

File names and thumbnail size is no issue in P6 ;-)

Puntomaus...your the winner of the "Stupid question of the week", all those thumbs came up in photoshop as a background and NOT a layer... I corrected the problem and now have the BEAUTIFUL thumbs made by the original artist! I wish I had a prize for a wity helpful person such as your self!

Everybody who tried to help me THANK YOU!
