Subject: Newbie writer question? How do I upload from M/S word?

Hi there all,

Whilst I have posted in a few of the other galleries, I am not sure about posting here as I read a while ago that it has to be in 'note pad' (I think).

How do I convert my posts from M/S word to Notepad, or an find an appropriate program as I cannot find this notepad on my computer and I have joint problems so typing it all again would take ages and we would all be turned to stone by then:o{

I have attached the Samoyeds cheeky preface to my novel about my kidney failure from the POV of my two dogs as an advanced thank you prior to putting it in the gallery once I learn how.

Enjoy, comments are welcome

All you need to do is select your text, copy it, and paste it. The problem with Word is that sometimes in introduces formatting that causes problems when you view online, but if you paste into Notepad, copy again, and then paste into the forum or the gallery, you shouldn't have that problem.

Hi Boofy, and welcome to the section.

You may find the answers by reading replies  in the topic started by WiseHanna below.  the url to that topic is:

Do preview your posting and correct glitches caused by formatting.

By the way, if you open Notebook, and then open a Word document (you have to specifiy "all documents" so you don't see just he ones with txt extensions), you will see the extra junk coding that Word adds to a document.  Rather interesting if you have spare time.

ps is it ok to post songs as well in the writers forum? I have a few  hundred and would like to post them with a pic but don't want to do the wrong thing?

Thanks again,

Jenny (and Samantha and Bambi)

I have no idea. I went to the chat room and asked. Someone told me to go to upload then type my work in the comments section. It works but there is no way to add colour or change fonts. It changes colour and font if you copy and put it there from MS Word. Don't know if this helps Welcome and good luck. BobbiJo

Sure, you can post songs. Just be aware that anything you post you risk losing control of. So if they are songs you would actually like to have produced some time and make money from, you probably don't want to be posting them in a public fora - here or anywhere. Not to discourage you from posting, just want you to be aware of the situation. You would technically still own the copyright.

Thanks Jon.
I will give it some thought and decide from there
