Poser - OFFICIAL F.A.Q (Last Updated: 2024 Nov 14 9:14 am)
No Locking the figures isn't gonna do anything. Because the hands that are moving belong to the same figure. Although I suppose I could use two copies of Ben with just the right hand being used in one and just the left being used from the other......
That way they won't effect each other.
Ok I'll give that a try......

I'm guessing of course, but it sounds to me like nghayward has hit the nail on the head. If you use the 'Translate/Pull' tool on a hand it can drag the rest of the figure with it, thus moving the other hand. And like nghayward said the solution is to use the paramiter dials to move it. Another solution is to apply the 'Chain Break' to the relevant parts, in this case the hands and forearms. Chain Break will allow you to use the 'Translate/Pull' tool on a hand without the rest of the figure being draged along with it. Some body parts may require IK to be off before you can apply Chain Break to them.
Um guys....
Maybe i'm missing something but with all the Poser 6 figures (Jessi, Ben and Kate) you can't actually move the hand/forearm/shoulder) with the dials. THe only options available in the Transform part are the Taper, Scale , Side-Side, Bend and Twist functions
To actually move the arm you have to moe the whole body if you want to use the dials.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't Poser5 fix crosstalk? What has happened then in version 6?
This is not a cross talk issue. It is because as starmage later stated the hands were on the same figure.
Load Ben and drag is hand up into the air what happens the movement passes across his shoulders and down his other arm.
To overcome this select the abdomen and lock it Then repeat with the chest. (If you just locked the Chest the abdomen would still pivot on the hip)
Now when you try to move the hand the other will not move

If you use the side-side, bend and twist on the hand, forearm, shoulder or collar they will cause the body part to turn at the joint. this WILL result in the hand being moved in some way. It's just a case of getting the right joint to move in the right direction

Not sure if this will help you or not, but it's worth a try."It is good to see ourselves as
others see us. Try as we may, we are never
able to know ourselves fully as we
are, especially the evil side of us.
This we can do only if we are not
angry with our critics but will take in good
heart whatever they might have to
say." - Ghandi

This is not quite correct. For most actors (body parts) you can't translate them with the dials, the only movements available are rotations. The exceptions are the hands and freet, hands and freet can be translated via the dials if Inverse Kinematics is turned on for that limb. However the results achived by doing this are offten quite poor. For anything but very small translations it's usually best to position the hands via rotations of the forearm, shoulder, and collar.

Ok this is sending me balmy
The problem is this....
I have Jessi, Ben and Kate all loaded. I've hidden everything except for their hands and Jessi's right forearm.
Jessi is supposed to be holding a mobile phone. And Ben and Kate are supposed to be gently touching Jessi's arm (close to the wrist).
The problem is that when I move one hand it occasionally moves the other one and vice versa. THis can offset a lot of work and it's driving me around the bend.
Is there any easy way to do this?
