Subject: Trouble Saving file/ CR Pro/Need Poser Experts help!

Okay, my last post (concerning this problem) gone and went with no responses, so I'll try again and give a little more info....

I just recovered from a major computer disaster.  (too long to go into)  I reloaded all my software, and I was able to recover my work files from the old hard drive. Most of my Poser stuff seems to be working.  I currently have 3 Runtime folders,  one in Poser 6, one in Poser 5 and one for hair.

I have this one PZ3 file that has Victoria 3 with a clothing figure.  Whenever I try to modify the file and save it again (under a different name) the PZ3 file comes back as 0 kbytes (No information saved at all)  In fact when I hit save, the hourglass icon is there for a second and then stops, like it's not even TRYING to save the file.

I figured out that when I save the file with an altered CR2 file (that was altered with "The Tailor 1.6) it won't work.  The actual CR2 file saves okay, but when I save the entire scene (PZ3) file, it just goes blank.  If I save the same file with the original unaltered clothing figure, it works okay.

And finally, this file worked and saved okay before my computer crashed.  I just can't figure out why it won't save with this altered file?

Thanks for any advice,
Lee

So, to summarise: Pre-crashed Poser installation would save and load all scenes. Re-installed Poser will load all scenes, and save all but one. Inevitable conclusion? That scene got stuffed up somehow when your computer crashed. There's a minor possibility that there's something wrong with your new Poser installation, but it's unlikely; Occam's Razor suggests we adopt the simplest explanation. So... Delete the clothing figure, and try to save the scene then. If that works, reload the clothing from the CR2 which you saved. You know enough about Poser to have tried that already, and I know you know that, and you know that I know that you know... It's just that you didn't mention that step. You could try deleting things from a copy of that PZ3, until the damn thing does save. If you get down to an empty scene and it still doesn't work, sorry, you're doomed. If that doesn't work, you're reduced to picking through the PZ3 file with an editor, looking for errors. A thankless task. :( It's usually better to start again. Disheartening, but I find the new version usually comes out better in the end.

I don't know why this is happening, all I can think of is that it might be some sort of syntax error introduced by The Tailor. Have you tried this? In Poser, save the clothing item to a Figures pallet with a new name, delete the clothing item from the scene, reload it from the new copy you saved. Now try saving a pz3.

Thanks for your suggestions EnglishBob, I appreciate it.  And thank you lesbently, your suggestion did the trick.  It works now!   If this were Experts-exchange.com, I'd be awarding you 500 points for your answer!

Thanks again....and now back to rendering.....
