I have finally, after a week of trying, managed to download and install the poser5 free program, and the Hero Content zip file - what I need to know is where do I unzip this content TO???

Does anyone know?

I can't find any readme file to explain this.

Generally speaking, Poser files should be extracted to your Poser "Runtime" folder ( C:/Program Files/Curious Labs/Poser 5/Runtime ).

I have not yet been able to complete my d'load of this particular item, though, so I can't be 100% sure!

If the new version is the same as the one I had there's a quicktime movie in the Content folder that shows you what to do. Not that it's the way I do it

It'll be nice to have something a bit more up to date than the Poser4 I had off a magazine.

Don't understand that quicktime movie - as it's talking about getting something about Asia from somewhere, plus it's talking about WinZip - I hate WinZip, so I never use it, I use PowerArchiver.

Now, since I don't understand the movie - can I just extract everything inside the Hero zip thing to the "C:/Program Files/Curious Labs/Poser 5/Runtime" as RedHawk says? 

Or do I need to be more selective, and just put some of the things into that runtime folder???

Or just extract to the "C:/Program Files/Curious Labs/Poser 5" folder and hope it finds the Runtime folder itself as the movie seems to be saying that winzip does... I think...  Very confusing.

When i look at my downloaded contentfolder ( I bought Poser 5 download version some time ago)

it looks like it shall not go in to the runtime at all, it has a index.html so you can look at the content and then choose what to install.

Try to extract the file to another folder whom you create, you can then see how the folder structure looks like and you wont harm your Poser runtime.

Yes, good suggestion, I was thinking about doing that... not that I will know what to do with it all after that...

generally the self installers point at     c:program filescurious labsposer5  

for example . The folder paths within the zip files should start runtimelibraries... or runtimesomething ....

There's a "ShellExecute.exe" inside the zip file - I dunno if that means anything.

This webpage lets you browse the content in the folders and decide what you want to install. Just click on the download button below any thumbnail image. On the popup menu choose Open With, then select your zip program. After your zip program opens just point it to your runtime directory and unzip.

Cos, that'll be a real problem if so, since I can't access the internet with this computer while at college.

No, it's a local file.
IIRC, it's quicker to just to browse through the directories and unzip straight from the disk.

No, you don't have to have internet access. The html page is included with images just to help you identify what content is there.

As mentioned if you want you can just just browse through the folders, find a zip you want and install it.

When installing just point it at the Poser 5 folder.

UM... NO! You don't want to unzip to your Poser "Runtime" directory. You want to unzip to your Poser directory itself because all the zipfiles file structure already includes the runtime directory. If you unzip to the runtime directory you'll end up with a file structure similar to this one:

C:Program FilesCurious LabsPoser 5RuntimeRuntime.....

Simply unzip to either your Poser 5 directory or your poser 5 Download Directory if you want to keep it separate from the main runtime.
